This "test" was not about a fair field...it was about what you can get for 100k...and from that perspective it's pretty sad for BMW that a 10 yr old car with a tune spanks your ass. ...and you can get a lightly used GTR for a lot less than 100k and get the same result.

Colour aside, I'll take the 911 you can have the GTR.

Why do you say that the M5 would lose against the Porsche? The JB numbers on pump gas are 10.6 in the 1/4 so it would have beaten them both. I strongly suspect the RC numbers published are using only pump gas, too, so either ridiculously cheap bolt-on would've changed that race entirely.

Should on the first race with the Porsche spinning to a 10.8

Second race the Porsche launches much better and “probably “ ran much quicker than a 10.8 just looking at how it blows by the 10.8 GTR. Porsche is also 700lbs lighter than a F90.

Fun internet fodder without any real data.

For me,this video is perfect example how marketing works..in this case you have two tuned cars and one stock,if we can call M5 comp stock..however,after this video lot of M5/M5 comp owners will say:". oh i need to tune my car, that way my M5 will maybe win this drag race..."
Well,i love my car as it is.

your right it is truly sad, when I go out to dinner with 4 other people and try to squish them in the GTR or 911.
oh heck lets add $1,000usd. do a flash and beat them both while were at it.

LOL, I'd already turned it off--I didn't even see the second race. I just watched it and it clearly hooked up better that time. The presenter said right at the end that it ran a 10.3 which is the F90 M5 + JB4 best (10.31) so it'd still be close. I know the M5 was using US 100 octane (US AKI or RON+MON/2), I'd guess that Porsche runs on the UK's BP 102 which is roughly US 97 so still not apples-to-apples but mighty close, regardless.

And I turned it off before I heard 10.3.

Friend of mine has an Alpha Omega 12. It's insanely fast.

Not for the price and lack of amenities!
Used to be!
It's 100K now+ and with a tune hardly Abel to beat to beat M5 5 seater saloon!

Test drove 2"16 before and was very uninspiring

My 2 cents

I see your point. All comes down to perspective. The M5 Comp might win, but the GT-R is doing it with less cylinders. A bolt on GT-R on e85 is retard quick. 750rwhp GT-R's are extremely quick off the line and top end.

I'd love to have one, but would take the M5. Need somewhere to put all my hoes.

Ps: babe, I don't actually have any hoes.

Maybe because it's a 997 Not a 991.2 . Pretty fair since it's a decade old car lol. The point was what you could get for 100k .

M5 did real well against a drag race cars

Porsche had drag tires! WTH?! Put slicks on m5 too )

M5 was stock, why not take stock GTR and Porsche turbo S of newer year. Or take f10 m5 with 50k worth of upgrades and watch it destroy all of them
