What’s the best color for the M5 Competition?

Every car, even model variants, look best in different colors. I like bluestone best on a standard 5 series but don’t prefer that color on the M5. Before the M5 Competition was released I was set on Individual Silverstone II for my M5. Now I’m second guessing that since I’m probably going to get the Competition. What color do you think will look best on the M5 Competition?

Depends if you want to have to have the black parts stand out. It'd go a darker colour with that black rear bumper, at least not white.

For me Frozen Dark Silver or Donnington Grey I think will contrast well.

Love the lines and how aggressive it looks in the Frozen Dark Silver, although need to see it in the flesh.

Any idea if the frozen silver paint is a no-charge option on the competition? Kind of like the frozen red on the edition one? Or is that an individual option for the comp m5 at likely a 5k upcharge?

I paid in Australian Dollars $4500.

I'm going on Saturday to finalise the order, now that the dealer has the Competition options list. I'll let you know if becomes NCO. Highly doubt it will though.

I'm not a big blue guy, but one color did just come to mind: Atlantis Blue

(...not atlantiC blue - good inside joke for us long-timers).

Just remember that a large portion rear bumper is now shiny black on the Competition.

Will be quite the contrast.

You will need to pay for frozen color.

When you guys pay your $5k upcharge is that solely for the paint or does that include additional items?

On the canadian BMW site when you select a frozen colour it forces you to select the MFrozen Optics Package for $4,500.

The package includes:

- 20" Black Wheels - $500 value
- M sport Exhaust - $1,500 value
- M Carbon Engine Cover - $1,200 value

and that seems to also include the price for the upgraded paint as the total options price is $4,500 (cost of the package alone).

For the US it’s just the paint.

Ugh... well that explains why I haven't seen more pictures of them pop up.

I've been debating on picking up a F90 when my lease is up next year and have found myself looking at the frozen options. Just can't tell from the hand full of images out there whether a dark frozen silver will be a colour I can live with as a daily going to the office...

To me Frozen Grey looks the best. Im having the same dilemma. X5M lease is up in 3 months. Placing my M5 Competition order next week. I really don't want to pay an extra 5K for paint on a 125K car. Im also worried about maintanece of the frozen paint. You can't really polish or repair scratches as easily. Im looking forward to seeing everyones opinion on color.

A wrap will easily fix that. They can wrap any part these days even in a matte wrap. Frozen grey paint and a matte black wrap over the black bumper. Or just a clear matte wrap. Changes the gloss color to matte. Lots of options.

I agree, plenty of options to change the colour of your car these days.

I guess it comes down the personal preference and your situation.

I'd prefer to have the car the way I want it too look on delivery day.

Which is Frozen Dark Silver contrasted with gloss black accents.

What are your thoughts of Silverstone II with the Competition? I would change the rear bumper apron back to body color as well as the rear spoiler.

For my build leaning towards Frozen Brilliant White Metallic with the Carbon Fiber roof. Saw an M3 CP last weekend in Brilliant White plus the Carbon Fiber Roof and it was spectacular.

But I do love that Frozen Dark Silver look too...And spot on about able to tweek the look with wraps.

I don’t think the Competition would look good in Donnington (no offense Hill Country F90). I personally think it’s such a classy color it looks better with body color and chrome accent pieces.

I've decided on Singapore Grey for my 19' Comp. A many have mentioned the glossy black pieces can be wrapped or replaced altogether. Initially, I was headed the DG route but like this car better in a darker tone. My current M5's BSM so I'm kind of staying in the same color range.

Nothing individual really blew me away.

I actually think BSM will look great. Wish the exhaust tips stayed chrome so you picked up a bit of shininess in the headlights/wheels/exhaust tips for a more balanced look.
