The E63 has lost its prior presence in regards to the front perspective IMO. The new dimensions dont work visually, the grille presents too high a line making the car seem taller and the headlights look like they came out of an economy x-over parts bin. Definite step down from previous.
Im still a sucker for the pre LCI M5. |

Merc looks like an SUV from front. Weird.
But M5 doesn't look that great either. I was hoping for 7 series style front end to add some heaviness and character. But it's ok, more stealthy.

None of them goes downhill. People go downhill themselves, that's why they're attached to the designs from their good years, nostalgia effect.
All the new BMWs and Mercs and Audis are better than the old ones.

Close comparison, but I still prefer the M5. It would be nice if BMW also offered center-lock forged wheels, also.....If that's not just a cover for the standard lugs.

Why get rid of the classic Mercedes grill and hood ornament? Those were world known and earned. Crazy. Well, we all know why, cost cutting.

Its still available on both the E and S class. Younger buyers didn't like the "old-fashioned" looks so Benz only puts it on their cars with their most wealthy and loyal buyers (which are likely also their older clients), being the E and S-Class. C-Class also had it up until 2017, but that was a model for younger buyers. Same story with BMW design, change is inevitable, even if we don't like it or its uglier (4-series grilles )
