2011 E92 Options Clarification Please Help!

So Im looking at a 2011 e92 335i m sport package and it does not have the 'harmon/kardon' on the speakers next to the window. Does that mean it has the same lame stereo that the 328s come with?

I had a 2008 e92 with sport package and was under the assumption that ALL 335i's come with the upgraded stereo, and at that time it was the Logic7.

Please clarify - is the 'upgraded' stereo now an option on the 335i and if it does not say Harmon/Kardon then its the base stereo?

Thank you!

Should be the "Hifi" stereo, which is the best option if you're looking to upgrade amps and speakers. You should have a tweeter and mid in each front door and two mids on the rear deck (a sub under each front seat also).

OK Just using the VIN decoder and figured out it has the hi-fi system. Is that the same as Logic 7?

Mines Hifi in my 335i, you'll know when you go to the settings in iDrive for Tone and you can see the Logic7 badge in the right corner & you have an equalizer setup.

However, yea it's likely you've got general Hifi which sucks

I cant believe they downgraded the stereo in the 335i in the newer models! I was happy with the Logic7 in the pre-lci. Im going to go to the dealer to listen to both the hi-fi and the harmon kardon and hope its not a deal breaker as the car I found has everything except the harmon kardon!

Ive read through some other posts and people mentioned that between the Hi-Fi and Logic7 not too much difference unless you are really cranking that up. Can someone confirm? I typically do not listen to music very loudly but do like a clean crisp sound with decent bass.

I have a 2011 E92 with the HiFi system and I don't have any complaints. I'm also not trying to throw a concert for myself and all my neighbors in my car. The bass and highs provide plenty of sound for me.

Thank you for the feedback. Im thinking that the easiest thing 'if' I was to change something about the car would be to upgrade the stereo system. Did anybody on here tinker with the stock hi-fi system to get better sound?

The e92 I found does have the interior/exterior colors that I want, with navi and m sport package both of which are a must for me. Just wondering if I should 'wait' to get another bmw with the harmon/kardon or just bite the bullet and figure it out from there...

Did any of you 'give up' something in the car you bought that was important to you initially?

Some 2011's got the third option stereo

Some 2011's got the third option stereo which is the one the rest of the world get's as a no pay for it option. You do not want to get a car that has one of those because it has no amp ,it has no tweeters and is a real piece of crap.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1266451970

The base system is not the Hi Fi system that was kind of almost acceptable for a luxury car.

There is a whole sub forum on car audio/electronics for the e90 here .

http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=27

The process for modifying any of the three basic systems has been documented in the following thread.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323

You can easily beat the L7 system but it will cost you 1500 minimum or more if you you really want something extra outstanding. The easiest system to modify is the Hi Fi.

Turn it up. If the bass makes your ears tickle, then it's the upgraded sound system. If it doesn't make your ears tickle, you got a shitty sound system.

I have the logic 7 and it was a $895 or so option on my 335. My speakers do not have any labels on them.

The hi-fi is utter shit, Harmon Kardon is absolutely the way to go. I had the Logic 7 (which is btw Harmon Kardon) in my 07 335i and it was fantastic. When searching for my new car, having HK was a non-negotiable option. The Hi-fi is easier to upgrade aftermarket, but I like my car to be perfect out of the box. If having a good sound system is important to you, wait for the HK. It drives me insane that a car that is over $50,000 would not have excellent speakers stock, or that the dealer wouldn't tack the option on when it's like $650.

Thanks for the advice. Im looking at used cars so sometimes its a gamble on what to give up or what to take. Its almost always impossible to nail down all the things youre looking for when looking for a used car (and have a time frame on top of that!) so something has to give. The stereo is really important to me but looking through the threads and how easy it can be to easy boost the hi-fi sound it might be a go on the car. That is much easier to switch up then other factors such as interior/exterior colors, navigation system, m sport bumpers etc...

There is another 335i with harmon kardon but much less warranty left and not my first choice on colors inside and out...decisions decisions...

I gave up the nav and m sport options for a newer LCI model, I was originally looking at 08-10s but I got a great deal on a 2011 with only 14.5k miles and i decided the length of remaining warranty is more important to me than those. The good thing about the HiFi system is that it is much easier to upgrade if you find the need to do so. The HK is a PIA to upgrade any components from what I have read.
