Procede - Calling all 335i's

So what are the thoughts out there regarding procede...

I need some facts here guys, It's a seriosu question with a motive behind my madness...

I cant edit the poll, but WOULD add,

"IF I could get it fitted for me, It WOULD change my mind and I'd GO for it."

Please post your thoughts guys, we might have a GREAT offer for you if we can get the interest.

SJ

Let's see where this leads first..

Can those who are seriously considering Procede, regardless of their thoughts on their ability to install it or not, PM either James or myself so we know who you are? As James says, we might have a GREAT offer available...

I know, we're sorry for posting Tony. We'll ask you before we do in future. Or engage our brains. One or the other. I think Carlos will probably do the former as may be lacking some requisite items for the latter

I think you'll find that the Proceed V2 far surpasses the level of performance that the Xede will produce. The Proceed is a more advanced unit and in V2 form is proving to be quite a suprise even for the more established tuners. Out of all the add-on boxes, Proceed is definitely the one to go for

For me, if you added a "Would install it if it stayed in warranty, like Dinan" I would say yes, but unfortunately a large amount of money is at stake if you get caught.. I know.. someone had to say it... now, once its out of warranty I would... for sure.

I believe that BMW NA are no longer working in partnership with Dinan.. correct me if I'm wrong? And therefore the Dinan products are no longer covered under warranty.

Incidentally, even if a component in the engine did fail, BMW would have to PROVE with technical evidence beyond all doubt that the component failed due to the reprogrammed ECU. Now, given that the components most at risk are things like the fuel pump, there have been tens if not 100s of cases where these components have already failed due to bad manufacture etc... and all of these failures were NOT down to a reprogrammed ECU. Therefore BMW will still replace these components under warranty, as there is no way to prove that it was the ECU that caused the problem. It is illegal in law to invalidate 100% of a warranty, just because a non-standard part has been fitted. If that modified part itself fails, then fair enough that won't be covered. But otherwise, BMW do not have a leg to stand on. Also, no dealer will put in writing that the entire engine won't be covered under warranty - tuners worldwide have been desperately waiting for a dealer to do that, so they can take the dealer to court to create a landmark case.

This warranty thing is all about attitude to risk. As far as I'm aware, and I think it would be all over the Beemer forums, no-one has had warranty refused for a re-mapped ECU? Yes, I think I heard about a guy who installed himself and left a wire loose (arguably his own fault) or something but other than that..... so it comes down to whether you think this thing that has never (to my knowledge) happened will happen?

Nail on head Silver, whether it's a plug in or a remap,it all comes down to just that.
I've had 2 cars remapped by DMS,both diesels and neither caused any problems, nor were they picked up by BMW.

I can understand people's reluctance to carry out the mod though, after all if you do have a problem with warranty,it's going to be an uphill battle with the giant that is BMW.
