The way BMW has bundled options lately, I'm expecting to pay $60k minimum to get just a couple of things I really want. I'll be shocked if they break options down like they did for the e9x.

My last M3 an E46 purchased new in 2004 was $57K without Nav so a fairly loaded M2 at $60K isn't unrealistic. I still think around $54K base price.

I think they're going to build two model M2s simultaneously.
The (for lack of a better term) "vanilla" model, IMO, will have a base of 55k and will offer the usual options to select from. The second car, built, exclusively, for the 100 year celebration, is going to be a CSL variant. My guess is it will be wrapped in a lot of carbon fiber stuff and, so, will start at, around, 85k. |

Yup, think you are spot on with pricing. 1M was about a 25% increase over a 135i, so that would put the M2 right at $54k.

Yeah I agree with this. I based off of 228i instead since the M235i is probably closer to an M2 than a 235i would be if they made one. So going off the price difference between an M3 and 328i, I think I guestimated something like $53,255 (rough number that could be rounded down or up).

I presume if the same amenities are available as the M3/4 or even the 3/4 series, the price 'well optioned' will creep around $60k. Fully, probably right at the starting price of the M3. What is the top spec of the m235? $55kish? I'd expect with dct and similar options that the m2 hit $60k (at least) which puts it in a weird place given you can grab a M3 for not much more. Heck, you can grab a C7 vette with good options for that price. I think I loaded one to where i'd want it (well optioned but not ridiculous) for around $66k with supplier pricing. And we know you can get them a bit cheaper than that. |

back on topic from what the OP has stated - if the ONLY criteria for making a purchase decision is PRICE, then the Cadillac is always going to win as they are always cheaper than their BMW counterparts.
BUT, when you compare a mid-sized coupe to a compact coupe there are always going to be difference. The ATS-V is trying to compete with the M3/M4, but won't be able to compare in a number of areas - resale, handling, steering feel and overall cost of ownership. |

Seeing the way this is going with the single interior color and limited exterior colors, I do not think the M2 will be available with more amenities than an M235i. I know some people are hoping for 3/4-series level options, but why would BMW do that if they aren't even giving us a choice of interior colors?

I hope it starts at $51K Before options, because if it starts at $54-55K, that's about $20K more than a Golf R. If you're in California or New York and you factor in sales tax, that's at least $22K more.
Now I know they don't directly compete with one another, but man, that extra $22K will be great for Mods. Then again, I would imagine most people would lease. So the difference might be a $500 lease vs a $750 (Golf R vs M2)

Not noticing much price comparison with the 1M which had a MSRP of $47k. Wouldn't that be more in line with what we could expect? I cant imagine what more would be put into the M2 above what was in 1M that would push M2 MSRP to $60k.

If the M2 was $47K they would sell out the first year production in one day. With the M235 close to $45K base the bar is set for pricing. Just the LSD and 19" wheels probably add $3-4K. The 1M was artificially low and since they only sold a little over 700 in the U.S. I don't think you can use that pricing for any benchmark. I would literally run to my dealer with a bag of cash if it were $47K.

I'm really hoping for a starting MSRP of $53k or lower. I was originally hoping it would start at something like $49,995, but I have serious doubts about that at this point in time. If it starts at anything over than $53k, I will start seriously looking at other options. The only thing I really want on my M2 is adaptive suspension/upgraded wheels and HK sound. Those options would bring me to about $55-$56k and that is probably the MAX I'd be willing to spend and that's pushing it for me.

Well, it was just leaked that the GT350 will start at $47K and that's for 500hp... please BMW, don't price the M2 higher than 51-53K or I believe many will transition to the American competition. I would have to consider it even though I don't want to, but at that bargain it's hard to overlook.
