Engine Noise - Is This Normal?

Changed the oil this morning on the car, 2019 M5 Comp with 42,000 miles. Noticed a pretty loud tick on startup that sounded abnormal, went away as engine warmed up but returns upon rev. In the linked video you can hear if after I rev the engine and it fades a bit after.

Thinking this could be Vanos or the noise High Pressure Fuel pump but curious if anyone can confirm/is familiar with this? Thanks.

Indie mechanic took a listen and confirmed it’s the high pressure fuel pump. No action to take until it goes out.

I think this has been confirmed as a “normal” BMW M5 noise.

Mine sounds just like it. I made peace with it as normal beast sound.

Normal lol it has a diesel-like tick sometimes. It’s quieter for me after I switched to a slightly thicker oil. I would not be concerned with that sound. Enjoy it in good health. These cars are pretty darn stout.

Same behavior with mine.

I took it to the local dealer who had it for 2 weeks. They had BMW corp techs listen to captured video and they said it was normal. They waited for another M5 to come into the shop (by chance two others came in) and compared it and they all had it.
