I'm so sorry about your car MNoob. While I'm thankful no one was hurt (although I wish the driver might have had a airbag kick him in the face for all the BS you have to sift through).

I didn't read too far back, are you able to at least live in the home or did they say it was structurally unsafe. Hopefully you can at least be there and keep an eye on everything.

Did insurance say the cars are a total loss or....

House has been temporarily shored up and boarded up so all good there. My car might have frame damage but i won't know till they get into repairs. Initial inspection from dealer was that stuff didn't line up. Definitely not totaled though. Wife's car just needs replacement of the clear PPF deal on the bump/tail gate. It more the hassle of all of it. Can't get into the garage, parking cars in the street and driveway. I also have some landscaping projects going on and this has definitely created logistic issues. It's just stuff, but still going to be a pain in the ass for at least the next month.

Yes I understand completely. It is just "stuff" but its your time and aggravation. I'm sure attorney will factor that into any settlement, as will court...

Keep us posted!

Life is too short - think good thoughts and things can be so much worse. This is just an inconvenience in the big scheme of things. It's hard at times but being surrounded by supportive family, friends, colleagues, and pets is what matters - health first!

No structural damage to the M5, but repairs are already over $20k. Damn. The house looks like it will be around $40k, but still need the engineer report. Nothing out of my pocket, but still. Repair on my wife's car is $35.

The aggravation is priceless

^^^ You need to go after diminished value on your M5. Even after your car is fixed it will be worth 5-10K less on a trade in and or resale value.

Yeah, i've got a list i'm working through with the other insurance. There has been no pushback.

It'll be a month on this friday. Looks like another month at best before any work starts on the house. At least 3 weeks for my car, pending availability of parts. I'm glad the RAM isn't in the rear bumper. That would suck.

My M5 was in a front right corner accident. Took over 3 months to get the parts and cost $35k. No airbags went off.

The M Performance exhaust is bent and one of the tips is mangled. The dealer wants to replace it. State Farm is refusing and allocated .5 hours for a muffler shop to straighten it, and $128 for a new black chrome tip. State Farm is MY insurance. Geico (insurance for the tot sot) has accepted full responsibility. State Farm will subrogate. And they are still behaving like this. Can't make it up. And my car sits collecting dust.

I sent my car to one of my insurance company’s “gold star” approved shops in my area that it has worked with for years. If I had taken it to a dealer, I would have been arguing with the insurance company as the estimate regularly increased over time and work would have been further delayed. As it was, the gold star shop sent the car to BMW for about half the work and the insurance company paid it all without any hassle. And it still took 3 months…

Make sure you get a check from insurance company for diminished value of your car. This could be upwards of 10% or more of your retail value. Insurance company fixes your car and then you also get a nice check because ultimately your value of your car is lower with an accident reported, especially a high end car.

I originally took the car to the "Gold Star" shop. They said they weren't certified for aluminum and told me to take it to the dealer.

I'm looking into this, but the car is leased. Since I don't "own" the car I may not be eligible for this.

You may be liable for a payment upon return if the car was not repaired to bmw specs. Probably have to buy it and then sell it, but if you bought a few years ago the lease prices were favorable.
