People Suck
2:19 am a subaru wagon hit the front of our house doing probably 60 or so. Garage door and corner of house is toast. Pretty significant structural damage and the corner of the house is gone. M5C is smashed. X3M is somewhat less smashed. Driver backed up over what he missed on the way in and drove away. He was found not too long after, unsurprisingly. Don't have details yet. Sheriff deputies were fantastic. No one hurt.
Of course my M5 was damaged from all angles as shit flew in the garage. The garage door springs and ancillary parts make good shrapnel.

Sorry to hear about this. That’s terrible, especially when we think our cars are somewhat safe inside the garage. Maybe when he’s shopping for a new piece of shit to drive, someone accidentally runs both his feet over and breaks them in million pieces. I’m not wishing bad on anyone, but you never know.

Yeah that sucks! I had someone run through a big front yard and destroy the garage of one of my rental properties. A neighbor called me, but the driver of the car drove off. When I went out to check the damage, his front license plate was still in the garage. So he was tracked down. This was probably 5+ years ago.

Well, when you're able. And, yeah, what an ahole. My recent little hit and run fender bender pales in comparison. Sucks. |

There will be little or no consequences to the person who did this, yet you will loose financially regardless of the 'insurance' coverage. This is the kind of lawless behavior which is only getting worse the more permissive our society has gotten. This requires a little Seinfield Law: Make that guy your Buttler for life. Payback.

Hope they found the other driver in time to do a DUI test. Smart DUIers run and hide until the next day. They may still get charged with other offenses, but often avoid the DUI.
Sorry about the car. I got in a front passenger corner fender bender with my F90 (my fault) that was not serious enough to trigger air bags and I drove the car home. That was in December and my car is still in the shop. Parts unavailability and delays. |

They did get the guy pretty quickly. I don't have any details yet, but believe he was very young and very drunk. Newer car so hopefully insured. My insurance has been great and already has someone coming out to help get our cars out and board up the house. We'll probably have the garage contents put into storage. I have the whole thing on security video. Definitely some GTA action. I'm not posting anything on social media until I'm farther down the path of resolution. The police were stoked I had two different video angles.

Dang dude! So sorry about this! Good thing nobody was hurt, but…still. That is some craziness! Glad they caught the guy. At least he won’t get away with it, and will hopefully learn and be better. Hope you get your steeds back in order soon, whether new ones or what. Best wishes to you!

Update. pulled my car forward so garage door guy could do his thing. There are body gap issues from side to side. Trunk and rear door gaps.

Sorry to hear!
The positive is that no one was hurt and that the rest of the mess will be resolved.

After watching the Tesla crash in Echo park, I've no doubt this won't be the last awful incident we read about. Really sorry about your losses, but glad nobody was hurt and you and the family are safe.

I suspect this kid lived in the area. I'll get the police report tomorrow and hopefully find out.
The house is temporarily reframed and boarded up. Adjuster comes Sunday and we can start pulling permits the next day. Amazingly my wife's car has barely visible scuffing in a small spot on the bumper. I already got approval to take my car to the dealer for an estimate tomorrow. I will have to drive around in my lotus for day to day shit, whit isn't really much. There are worse outcomes. Edit: going to get beer, and possibly tequila. peace out.

you can also separately sue him yourself which can and usually will result in additional penalties.

Happy to hear no one was physically hurt. That's always some comfort. I hope your house and car gets sorted. Please remember to look after yourself and the family as well. Sounds like a pretty traumatic experience. |

I'll be interested in following the legal pursuits here to see what final verdict is reached. You can defraud the entire Chicago Police department and walk. Just saying. Mike
