Actually, I've known a few folks who put hitches on 911s & Boxster/Caymans so they could trailer their track rim/tire setups to the track. Maybe 600 lbs-ish trailer weight. No reason an M5 can't do that.

You’re confused what towing means? Look it up in a dictionary then.

Or were you simply being snobbish and berating others for doing so? It’s funny how whenever there’s a question about tow bars in M/AMG forums there’s always someone who gets offended by what other people do with their car and scream out ‘get a suv’. What’s your problem if others love the M car, don’t want to drive a crappy beater and sometimes need to tow stuff that doesn’t fit inside??

Perhaps he knows something that narrow minded/snobbish folks don’t?

Enjoy your Camry, but no need to judge those who prefer their M5..

Can't say I disagree with your assessment. But dayam, I guess my 2022 Raptor that I happen to tow with is a crappy beater.

WHY? You paid $90k+ for this car, if you need to tow something, why not buy the proper vehicle for it?
Towing with a car.... just no...

I'm all about utility on an M5, even with an extremely capable full size SUV in my garage…

I don’t need to tow much and have access to SUV, trucks and trailers if I need them, so I probably won’t put a hitch on my car. But I would have no problem doing so to pull a light trailer. Like 3500 lbs or less loaded. The LSPI scare might cause me to shift manually but that is no big deal for infrequent use.

I have put folding sawhorses and a circular saw in the back of my car when I needed part of a sheet of plywood from HD. I cut it in the parking lot. I have put 10’ lumber in the car, bags of much, trash, sand, etc. it is pretty useful with the big trunk and fold down seats. Roof rails would make it even more useful, but I have not yet bought any. I don’t want to spend the time to go get a truck or SUV and trailer unless it is really necessary. My SUV is fairly small -- 21 Cayenne S — so it won’t hold much more than the M5 but is good for bulkier stuff like a dishwasher.

Every time I read this ^ when you post about it, I get a smile on my face. Makes me feel not bad about my mattress stunt a couple of months ago. 😉

Love seeing owners get utility of their M5s!

Here's to cutting up more stuff in HD parking lots.

I pulled several shrubs out of the ground and moved some large rocks from my landscaping using my M5, tow hook, and a tow strap. I wouldn't tow a trailer due to the lack of suspension travel, but the car definitely has the torque and traction to move things effortlessly.

Rock on!

I like that! What were the attachment points for the rope or chain or tow strap? I have snapped tow hooks before when the pull was not straight enough. The AWD would be great for pulling.

Tow.....nothing wrong with that...be nice if the car was setup for a tow bar without having to 'aftermarket it'.

There is a GREAT video of a guy in an M5 towing some huge BOAT and the guy in the car next to him, VW GTI, trying to race the M5 and gets beat by the M5 pulling the Boat. LMOA>

I'd tow with mine but I don't want to 'McGyver' a hitch to it!

We have the 'other car for towing' the Minivan LOL.

Mike

Same Roof Racks..first used on a 1981 Honda Accord.....Thule, they last and last. I have the Fit Kit for the M5 but have not had the occasion to put it on the car....

I used the front tow hook point and just backed up slowly to pull out the shrubs and move rocks. Used a big nylon tow strap. Neighbors probably thought I was nuts.
