If you can get a garage, that helps, VIR lodge is great, and has paddock rooms and hotel rooms on the facility. 10/10, highly recommend. The track shop is awesome, as well as the pagoda grill, so food on site is really good.

Oak Tree Tavern is also awesome, and on facility. Pricey, but when you have a $100,000 car, it's hard to argue for economy as to not get what you want.

I ran a 2:17 I know I got more in it was hard to get free track for a clean run. I definitely overshot turn one and went off course then was over slowing for oak tree every damn time. Beautiful place just a long drive from Maryland

The most time is usually found in the uphill esses, but that's the most dangerous part of the track. Best I've done is enter at 127 and exit at 111. The pucker lifted me out of the seat. I think that was my one 2:08 lap. Never been able to replicate.

This past weekend was CMP for me.

The pagid endurance pads are lasting, they just don't brake as well. Next pad with either be one of the BMW carbon ceramic pads I have, or Carbotech XP's.

I couldn't get a consensus on how to attack the esses. Everyone just said be careful, which I understand but doesn't help much. I came in at 120 and exited 95.

The uphill esses scared me once too. I was in my 09 CTS-V and entered the esses faster than before because I took the preceding turns faster. I got scared with how fast I was going so I lifted...and that unsettled the car and there was a lot of pucker factor. They had said don't lift there before we even got on the track. But I never quite had the guts to go as fast there again.

You have to have a "butt dyno" of the car. If you have a REALLY good grasp of when the car is about to rotate, you can go through there really fast. An M5 CS, probably 120 sustained with new tires. I don't like it. 127 in with 110 out is the best I've done with new Hoosiers. I probably had 10 more MPH all the way through, but there is no sense pushing it.

Never ever lift in the uphill esses. Maintenance throttle with some steadily decreasing speed is the closest you can get to losing speed up there. That tire wall has caught many many drivers on the left too fast through. The tire wall on the right has caught many many who sucked their sphincters in and lifted and paid for it with an oversteer.

PLAN your entry speed, and stick to it. Plan the exit speed and manage it. Consistency is the trick to going fast at VIR.

Just finished a weekend at CMP, and all the people there were afraid of VIR because of the high speeds and quickly rolling turns. Very different than CMP, and it shows. Although the kink can be JUST like VIR with speed and losing control.

UPDATE:

SOMETHING about my setup is giving me some brake *judder* under heavy braking. I switched out the Pagid RS-29's for stock BMW pads with the metal rotors due to the judder from VIR in November. It is improved dramatically, but under very heavy braking. I suspect the microcracks in the rotor. I am considering replacing for my next event.
