What is my Apple CarPlay doing?

The last few times i've used CarPlay something weird is happening. It sounds like the music is coming from a tin can, it's really quiet and there is no bass. When I try to turn it up I noticed that it says speech mode instead of volume like it normally does. It's almost like it's coming through like a phone call, anyone had this or have any suggestion? As soon as I switch back to Sirius it goes back to a normal sound. The phone is certainly connected as I can control which songs are playing but there is this weird sound issue.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Can't help with this problem, but BMW's CarPlay integration is horrendous. So many bugs relative to other implementations.

Sorry if this has been tried already, but have you:

rebooted your phone?

Deleted the connection and reconnected?

I restart my phone every morning before leaving for work and interestingly, I have never had a single issue with WiFi, Bluetooth, freezing up, etc ever in my life when it feels like everyone around me is melting down.

Might be worth it to press and hold once in a while.

Occurs when certain types of apps are running at the time of connection. Known iOS issue across multiple makes. If it occurs again, try a long press or two of the Voice Command button on the steering wheel. To avoid it all together, close all apps before approaching the car.
