Okay here's the deal. I talked to somebody from suvlights and if we can get 30 people, then the price will be near $210 + shipping. Now realistically, according to the list so far, if we're lucky, 10 people will fully come through with payment. So with 10 people down, we have to pay the regular price for the bulbs ($250) but we get free shipping ($20).

Secondly, if you are still interested, he needs everyone to have a confirmed addi (paypal/cc).

So anybody still interested? For a whopping $20 savings?

Personally, i rather get it on my own. Upto you guys, if you're still down, i'll go along with it.

For Canada, he needs you to wire the $. Off hand he didn't know how much shipping was, but will let you know if you're still interested.

Either the mark-up on these is minimal or SUVlights are not interested in hooking us up! What about Fucy? Wasn't he down to buy...some?

Anyhow, the savings are not there. If this falls through, I will wait until the price goes down or until we are able to get them cheaper! There should be some buying power with 10 or so people! I'll keep looking!

Im going to go meet the guy from suvlights on friday(since they're local), see if we can work out a better deal than free shipping. So price is up in the air right now. Why Suvlights? Because suvlights are selling these bulbs the cheapest.

I think the D1's have the igniter (?) connected to the bulb while the D2's are the bulb only.

Thank you to E90fleet for clearing this up:

The E90 uses the newer D1S. The D1S has a smaller electronic balast unit and the balast is connected to the bulb.

The D2S has a much larger electronic balast ( because its older technology) and the balast is mounted away from the bulb.

Okay I actually got a chance to talk with the guy from suvlights today rather than friday. A really good guy that was extremly knowledgable. Anyway, are you guys up to do a trade-in for your oem hid bulbs? He can give you a better price if you do this. This is how it would work:

You would pay full price for the lights($250 + shipping), send them your oem and he'll refund part of your money($45). If you can pay with cash, no tax will be added to the price. If you go there to pick it up, no charge on shipping. And we need to have 10 heads that are willing to do this. How does that sound?

The price he has on the website is already the cheapest you will find, including from japan. Actually japan orders from this guy, they slap the PIAA sticker on the bulbs, and charge $100 more than what he's selling them for. So the working room with the price is minimal, but if you can trade-in your oems he can work something out with us that way.

I posted the difference on the D1S/D1R vs D2S/D2R (Audi & BMW has only used the S type bulbs since all of their HID headlights have been projector type).

If you are interested in the trade in, ship us your bulbs back in the boxes they arrived in and we will refund $45 for the pair (must be working, undamaged etc.)

The D1 bulbs are also used on Audi, Cadillac, Chrysler 300 etc/Dodge Viper, Lincoln Mercury, Porsche, Range Rover, Volkswagon etc. The D1S can be used in both D1S & D1R (Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Mercury Aviator/Navigator etc) headlights

If somebody can post on forums for those vehicles, we can still do a group buy since we can most likely get more than 30 people.
