Piggyback "Tune"

Hey everyone I’ve had my LCI F90 for roughly 2 months now. I’ve been thinking about throwing a piggyback on it like racechip or dinantronics. I came from a 23 xDrive G80 with racechip and that thing was quite fast but lacked from roll races. Does anyone have feedback on racechip with the F90 and what suggested map to run? I heard 5 is the best! Also does anyone brake boost when doing rolls? I also plan to do a intakes and secondary cat delete!

I’ve run RaceChip GTS Black since the break in service has been completed on two F90s (pre-LCI base for ~29k miles, and now, LCI Comp for ~17k miles).

I’ve always set it to Map 7 on both from day one and never changed it. I’ve gotten so used to it that the car feels anemic and boring without it. My assessment is that it’s always been bulletproof, and for me, entirely trouble free.

I remove the entire set up any time the car goes to the dealer for service. I used to remove it at my home before leaving, but I hated the way the car feels without it so much, that now I pull over a few blocks from the dealership to remove it so I don’t have to endure 30 minutes without it.

P.S. If you still have the RaceChip, I believe r33_RGSport can reprogram it for you to use on the F90. Don’t hold me to this as when he did reporamming for me it was F90 to F90 (because the programming is different for base to Comp, as was the case for me). Not 100% if it can be repgrogrammed from a G chassis to an F chassis car (and from a six cylinder to an eight). If you can’t, you can order it from him and won’t have to wait for it to be shipped to you from Germany.

I can’t speak to brake boost on rolls, I’ve never even launched the car once.

I also have a RaceChip GTS Black, and it has been easy set-and-forget power. I set it for "7" all the time.

After my mechanic swapped out the coolant overflow tank, I thought something was wrong as the motor was noticeably down on power. Turns out the RaceChip just needed to be reset.

I've done a couple of mild brake boosts to scoot from a light, and the car feels violent.

I’m guilty of posting this on a similar thread once before. Forgive me guys. I can’t resist when someone uses the phrase.

map is the best starting point. You can change the map if you want more power, and the car handles it well.

For the intake, i recommend an open intake with heat shields to get the best of both worlds

Had a racechip since day 1, set to map 7 and forget. Brings the car to life, never had an issue and I completely remove before the dealership one block away.

Doing a spring clean, and found some Bavsound Ghost subwoofers and a Race Chip GTS I never installed.

Installed the subwoofers, but not sure about the Race Chip.

Spun the crankhub on my F80 with a JB4 on a simple map and DPs (was fine for 17k miles), so still annoyed from that…

But now im getting the itch after 3 years in two F90s without any kind of tune. Anyone recommend map settings? I have Eventuri turbo inlets (no intakes), the Dinan X pipe, and that’s it.

I run 93, but there’s oddly 94 at the cheapest place in the area lol. Anyone recommend spark plugs, or any other little tweaks?

Many of us use NGK 97506 iridium plugs. Same heat range as stock, despite some confusion about that on the internet. Piggybacks work reliably on these cars if you don’t mess around with custom settings or run the wrong octane for the map. I have used JB4 but not Racechip so I can’t tell you what map.

Gotcha. Might look into those.

Just running Map 3 for now until it breaks in a bit (car has 26k miles, but only about 300 with the piggyback). Digging it so far, fwiw.

Some recommend gapping the plugs down a little. Stock is 0.028. I use 0.024. Some use 0.022.
