Aspirational ask

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Folks - would appreciate any creative solutions to my first-world-aspirational-ask.

I currently have 11 months left on my 2019 comp with 17K miles on the clock (30K lease). My monthly payment is $1,350 with the only money down being my Texas sales tax.

I have the itch for a custom built new M5 with one of the special paints. Do I have any option to work with my dealer to get them to take the current lease off my hand? I don't want to go through a lease swap with a private party given the pandemic.

Ideas would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

With 11 months left... you're talking almost 15k. A dealership could just come down to if you can find one that will work with that.

A few options are to put it up on swap a lease, buy it then sell it, or just wrap the car and hold it for 11 months.

Swap a lease is a good option based on your situation and the current payment .. you could even add a small incentive to move it quickly.

If you're willing to eat a significant portion of the remaining payments a dealer could roll it into the next car.

Thanks guys.

Spoke to my CA today; the dealership is willing to take the car off my hands - my hit will be $2K. I can use the payoff to offset taxes on the new lease.

Negotiating a LCI M5 or a M8 GC. I think I am going with the former given the crap residuals on the latter.

yes, it will take a couple months for a new build; so by the time your 2022 or 2021 m5 comes in; you're looking at around 6 months left on your lease, which is a $0 cost trade in.

Get the M8 if you can persuade yourself to bear the payment difference. At the very least, make them work for their money and take your M5 quote elsewhere—ask another dealer to match it. Bold, persistent, shameless and patient are attributes that, combined, can achieve wonders.

I agree with you; love the M8 gran coupe in black. I am going to take a swing at a deal. Any difference greater than $200 a month will make me feel like crap so let's see where we land. The dealer has offered me 8% off a customer M5 build.

Right? Makes no sense but this is my 3rd BMW from the dealer and I have everything in writing.

It makes no sense.

That's a good deal especially in today's market. It sounds right based on prior deals I've seen prior to COVID. Most dealerships were giving around 20% off sticker; which is basically what your total package deal % off MSRP looks like.
But I haven't seen many deals like that on a custom build and in this "pandemic world"; so it's a good deal for you.
Probably helps it's your 3rd one with them.
