New TPMS need pairing?
Put my summer tires on today, they are on brand new 863 wheels. I bought a new set of OEM tpms sensors for this set as I didn't want to take apart a set of wheel and tires each time.
The idrive is not recognizing the tpms sensors, I get a tpms malfunction about 20 min into driving as well when I try to reset the tpms, though the progress gets to 19% then stops. Any way to tell if the tpms sensors is on the wheels without taking them apart? Do the sensors need to be awakened or paired? Any help is appreciated |

I'm pretty sure new sensors need to be paired with the car. I'm not sure how they do the pairing tho, but I remember the guys taking out a handheld programming machine to pair the new sensors on my winter wheels to my car.

I had this happen on my F80. I tried driving it and resetting it in idrive over and over. These were my winters and had been run for two seasons prior without issue. Kept getting stuck at 49%. Ultimately I had to get two new TPMs. If these are new though, and just need programming, idrive should be able to do it. If not, a quick stop at the dealer and they can use the relearn tool to program them.

I just had 863s put on my summers, during reset, it displayed 19% for a good 5 minutes and eventually completed the reset. Check to see that the correct type/size tires have been selected in the menu.

Same here. clicks from 0% to 19% then stalls for a good five minutes, then starts ticking up again all the way to 100%. I've found a side neighborhood nearby where I can just circle the same roads without stopping until it fully resets.

I received 36-10-6-887-146. The frequency is the difference. Thankfully Brit was willing to take back the incorrect ones and refunded me. Still annoying as I had to pay for another tire mounting to remove the incorrect sensor and install correct ones. |
