Prefill the oil filter?
No more free maintenance so time to do this myself. Had me wondering where the group stands on this contentious issue.
What do you do? Aronis you’re the resident expert so please weigh in. |

Very controversial topic. I pre-fill as that is how I learned. Never understood why nor did I ask why. So my decision was purely based on observation without any empirical data.
I curiously ran into the video below. Seems like it is a good idea to pre fill when possible, give it a view: https://youtu.be/939WTeorBnQ?si=Vo4kbVQ1mxo7ulZB |

I am not sure what they prove by testing the oil from the drum and drained from the engine other than unused oil is cleaner than oil drained from an engine which should be obvious. |

I have to believe after I drain the old oil there is still lubrication for the additional couple seconds it takes to recirculate the new oil, whether or not the filter is prefilled. But maybe not what do I know. |
