Blendmount (which one?)
Hey guys getting my 2023 M5 in a few days and ordering Blendmount for my R8 so it’s all here when it arrives. It shows 3 different mount options - anybody have one already that can share the correct part number or tell me which mirror below is accurate? I don’t think the mirror changes with any options, but I have executive and drivers assistance. Thanks!

Just an experience I'd like to share. I have been using a mirror tap to power my radar detector, but until recently was still using the suction cup mount the radar detector came with. On a warm day, the suction cups became malleable and they warped, causing the the radar detector to fall with a strong enough jolt that some damage was caused to the rear view mirror's wiring harness. When I came to the forum to ask for help on how to deal with this, pbonsalb gave me some great advice and said once I got it fixed, I should go with a BlendMount to prevent this from happening again. I had this on my mind, so after the dealership fixed it, I went to check out BlendMount. What I found is that while the BlendMount is rock solid and will definitely prevent another falling occurrence, it is very obstructive of the view (for me at least), especially because lined up centered under my rear view mirror is my dash cam. I was unable to see out a large portion of the windshield properly.
So instead, I ordered a permanent mount, specifically this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/172845254856 This is for a Cobra, but they are available for all major brands of radar detectors. It's basically your suction cup style mount with 3M VHB tape instead that adheres permanently. This lets me keep it tucked up away high up on the windshield, just to the left of where the rear view mirror housing is against the windshield. The mount itself is sturdy, but came made out of a cheap base metal. I sanded it, sealed it, spray painted it gloss black, then sealed it again. I shaved down the male end of the mount to accommodate for the extra thickness from painting it. This has been a much better solution for me. I get the stability of the BlendMount and the radar detector is not directly in my view. The location the mount allows me to put it much more low key, and it's difficult to tell I have it from the outside. This is a little difficult to explain without photos. When I get to the car again, I'll take some photos for you. EDIT — Photos attached.
