Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit Part #s [Retrofit Complete]

I'm looking into the part number required for my 330i which has an Msport steering wheel with paddles and driver assistant pro.

Anyone know what the difference is between 8746691 and 8746693? Both are msport/paddles/heated/DAP parts.

'693 - heated + DAP
'691 - heated + no DAP

Would someone have a picture of the 8746693 wheel by any chance, or know if it's meant to be missing the vibration motor? Do DAP vehicles achieve the vibration through EPAS?

Reason I'm asking is that I got the wheel but it doesn't have the haptic motor. I will check mine after removing the airbag, but I thought I'd ask in case someone had some info on it.

There are two ways to do it, one by coding the affected ECUs directly or by editing the VO/FA (Vehicle Order) and letting Protool or BimmerUtility do the work for you. I chose Protool.

i finished my retrofit today too, it is 10minutes job.

1. change steering wheel
2. code the car (add 248 to VO, and code BDC_BODY and HU )

everything works as it should, but please note, not all clock springs work for heated steering.

Hi All,
I'm going to do the same in my g20 330i. My current steering wheel has a vibrations, and normal cruise control button (no active cruise control). Few questions I have:

- can I go for any heated steering wheel, or does it need to be the one with same buttons (i.e. normal cruise control)?

- if I go for the one with active cruise control button, would it be possible to activate this functions somehow (is it hidden and just inactive, or that would require fitting additional elements)?

- if I have to go for same looking heated steering wheel (same buttons), will all the current functions be the same? I.e. will I still have the vibration system or even it it looks the same outside there might be so features missing (like vibration for example)

- do I need to by a replacement steering wheel with the paddles, or is it possible to move the paddles from my wheel?

- As someone else will be doing coding for me, am I ok to change the steering wheels at home, and then drive to this person for coding it, or will it cause the mess in the system?

Many thanks in advance

Its better you get the correct parts.
You will also need to replace Switch unit steering column with correct one. The coding can be done later. If you have ENET cable i can code it remotely.

Thanks TheNine90. I appreciate your offer with coding.I don't have ENET cable, how much does it cost approx? I am looking for a steering wheel with exactly same buttons as mine and with the paddle shifts.

I've seen one without paddle shifts and with ACC buttons, and I was wondering:
- can I replace those ACC buttons with normal CC buttons from my current steering wheels?
- can somehow fit my paddle shifts to the new steering wheel whith heating?

The ENET cable is cheap around 20$.
The normal CC buttons might work but its not a guarantee.
The paddle shifters requires mounting position which the other steering wheel wont have. You also have to figure how to wire the wires through the steering wheel.
Also make sure that you have wire from SZL to BDC for paddle shifter signal

Many thanks. You're right. I'll better buy exactly the same steering wheel with paddle shifts but with heating function.

Hello,
I am planning to install a new steering wheel with heating option in my BMW. I have bmw g20 320d, this is my VIN: WBA5V51050FH45696. I have adaptive cruise control and paddle shifters (driving assistant pro), but without heating button.. This is picture of my st. Wheel:http://postimg.cc/sGm2LHTM
Is it possible to buy new st. wheel with airbag part number 8746693 (https://postimg.cc/PCfcWVGC) (include heating button), will it all work properly after installation and coding?

Thank you so much

The part number is correct, but the image posted has different Control panel for Driver Assistance Systems. You can confirm if it matches your current one.
For steering wheel heating you will need to get correct Switch unit steering column.

Yes, you need correct SZL that supports steering wheel heater.
The other steering wheel is M sports steering wheel leather, current one is Sports Leather Steering Wheel

It's more than likely that your clockspring supports HSW. Mine did (G20 with DAP, paddles etc).
