Do I really need a tune?

Haven't ordered yet, but here's what I'm thinking:

AA or Fabspeed catted primaries
Fabsped (open to suggestions!) catless secondaries
Akrapovic full catback
Eventuri intake
Eventuri turbo inlets

Given how adaptable modern stock ECUs are, is it not reasonable to think that the stock ECU can adapt it's mappings well enough to take full advantage of the [hopefully massive] improved airflow?

Changing cats should always be accomodated with a tune just to be safe.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but my guess is that a piggy back tune(jb4) or stage 1 tune will net a larger power increase than any of those mods. If it’s mainly sound and looks you want then disregard.

Reduced restriction means more air through the motor with the same stock boost. Without a piggyback or tune you wont be adding boost or remapping vanos to take advantage of reduced backpressure or leaning a fat stock mixture. Might end up with close to the same gains as a stage 1 tune on a stock motor with no bolt on mods if I had to guess.

It depends on what you are looking for, Adding the mods without a tune will net some power gains, but you won't get full advantage.

If the power increase is not a concern, then you can skip the tune.

This x 1000.

Why need more power in F90? If you can answer that with a yes that your Mom would approve of, then you need a tune.

I'm sick in the head and MOAR power is bueno. Actually, I'd just like to be around 750-800 and call it a day. I want the Akra cause I'm just in love with the sound it produces. I can live without the rest if it will do nothing for me.

This is for bragging rights against some fellow gearheads. I can just barely eek out victory now, I'd like to do so emphatically, but I'd like to do it with something like Dinan's pre-LCI tune rather than a full on custom tune.

I'd like to be at 750-800hp. I can live without the rest of the mods if they won't help me get to ~750,but not the Akra. I'm just too in love with the sound of it.

I was hoping to avoid a custom tune, that's why I posted the other thread asking if Dinan or anyone else had cracked LCI encryption yet.

you need a tune. You don't have to to get a custom map, off the shelf maps will get you very close to your goal.

If you’re looking to push into the 700s, you’re going to need the tune and if you plan for the supporting mods you might as well go down that rabbit hole. My larger concern is running those power levels without forged connecting rods as I wouldn’t want to see you make a thread stating that cylinder 6 for example left the engine block.

I’ve seen it once already on a fully stock F90 and if you’re looking to do highway pulls at much higher levels than stock then you should be fully aware of full sending with the S63.

If you are thinking no tune or piggyback, I wouldn't recommend catless primary downpipes. Hell I wouldn't recommend catted primary downpipes either, leave it stock.
The rest of your mods should definitely wake up the car some. Add a piggyback and you will be in the mid to low 10s on pump gas.

About the primary catted downpipes.....I feel like the "better" the quality of the cats that ensure you don't get a Cel, the more stock the pipe becomes rendering the whole thing useless IMO.
Having an aftermarket 400 cell primary catted downpipe is probably going to have negligible gains over stock primaries.

I’m not an expert at all but I’ve seen smart people on the forum remark how well the stock downpipes flow already.

As if to say unless you are deleting the cat entirely it’s not really worth it to change primary to a “high flow” cat.

Maybe something to consider.

This is good to know. I thought the stock internals could handle up to 800 just fine, but anything above that needed a rebuild with forged internals.

Off the shelf I assume you mean a piggyback tune like carbahn? Any specifically that you recommend?

Off the shelf can be a piggyback like JB4 or bootmod3 flash tune.

All tunes have off the shelf maps where you don't need tp pay for a custom map
