Snow or not, pay attention to the temperature, consistently below 40° is no longer performance tire season...

Agreed, I did a launch control last weekend and both the front and back wheels lost grip, the road was just not warm enough to allow the tires to hold.
And I hate putting on the winters at 10pm at night as the snow falls for the first time and I need to drive to work the next morning 🥶

I purchased the winter tire package from BMW and included the pricing in my overall negotiations for the final price.

The rims are 19" M Double Spoke 705M (silver in colour).

Those wheels are identical to the base M5 19" wheels, just in all silver, correct?

I just found out there are two sets of OEM winters. A square set up of 265/40 19 with Ferric Grey 705 wheels (silvery in color) and a staggered setup with 265/40 19 and 285/40 19 in Orbit Grey (darker grey). Probably about a $200 price differential. Tires are Michelin Pilot Alpin 5. Looks like OP got the square set up.

The OEM summer 19s are 275/ 40 19 in the front. Same wheel width.

I'm not sure because my base M5 in Canada came with 20" M Lt/Aly wheel, Double-Spoke 706 M Bicolour

What are you guys paying for those tires. I'm in California but my son is up in Canada playing Junior hockey all year. I'm told he needs winter tires for his E350... odd sizes

245/40/18
265/35/18

Kal tire quoted me about 1500 bucks for some brand I never heard of. However, they say it's a popular winter tire. lol

No. There are two 19” setups. A square and a staggered. The ferric grey is the square setup.

I just ordered the staggered 19 for my incoming m5c

You're right, the summer 705M (Orbit Grey) are staggered - 9,5JX19 ET 26 front, 10,5JX19 ET 28 rear.

The winter square set up is 4 fronts essentially 9,5JX19 ET 26 in Ferric Grey

Ya, Kal tire has lots of stores up here in Western Canada which makes you think they must do good business.
That said, I have never purchase tires from them because the never seem to carry the brand / size I want / need (some unknown brand). I have never replaced my winters as I buy the new for the dealer and they last until I sell my car (I don't put a lot of miles on my winters).
When I've had to replace my summers (which seems to be every other year) I order the exact tire from the Tire Rack in the States ... the have free delivery into Canada and we pay the dollar conversation, duty and installation which I find always costs less then buying from a shop here in Canada.

That works as well but more hassle with having to go to a shop to have the tires switched on the rims and it always seems the shops here damage / scratch the rims.

Just buy 21" wheels for the summer, problem solved

Ordered Sottozeros from Tire Rack and will mount on the 20” rims. Waiting until we get to around 40 degrees consistently before mounting.
