Strange Buzz on Power Up

Hello Bimmer Brain Trust;

My 2019 F90 makes an unusual sound since new. There is a loud buzz and vibration that happens. It sounds electro mechanical like a pump pressurizing. Hard to isolate location but seems front (engine) oriented. This happens occasionally when I first get in the car, only when it's cold and prior to ignition on, but during automated power up.

What's happening?

When you unlock the car all kinds of gizmos are turning on. Same thing when you turn off after driving, the fan is running to cool the turbos.

Without video it's hard to help.

I've heard this also - probably various systems initializing loudly. Heard this with the X6 too.

I'm familiar with the usual power up sounds - this sounds like the diff is being ripped out.

I've been trying to get on video but this eludes me thus far.

Easy one,
The fuel pumps are priming, unlock the car with the key fob, you will also hear it, it lasts about 2 seconds.
I hear this every morning in my garage.

Those are some big fuel pumps to make this loud of sound and vibration. Not saying its not possible but jeebus. On the other hand its intermittent - not every cold start etc.

I've heard a "fairly loud" buzz on occasion at start up. It does not sound like the SMG/DCT pump that primes when you unlock a car with those transmissions. It is also not fuel pump priming. Today I got in the car and left the door open as I put one foot on the brake, lo and behold...... I heard the sound as I felt the brake pedal move slightly under my foot. Could be brake booster.

This (brake booster) seems plausible to me. It happens only pre-startup - maybe it happens after start but cant decern it with the motor running. I'm going to see if putting my foot on the pedal will induce it... with video rolling. :-)

Probably the same sound that we're discussing here. It's definitely unsuspected and jarring when it happens to me because I'm never thinking about it before it happens.

Finally something recorded...

This sound happens before any action from me to start the car etc.

My Nest captured the sound (though not very well). The clip has the sound followed by me groaning about not getting it recorded on my iphone. My wife reminded me about the nest cam.

This is an occasional but frequent sound. This sound is loud enough that it masks the normal power up sounds.

Sound at 1 second time stamp

I've tried the brake pedal during a noise event but no sensation.

This happened to me only once, and that was when I got in the car fast and used the brake to prop myself up and start right away.

Don't touch the brake pedal for a few seconds then hit the brake and start, did it go away ?

Not brake pedal related in my case. Usually when the driver door first opens. Happened to me today in a parking lot. car was warm, only off for about 10 minutes... happened right at door open.

Still hoping to get a better recording of it.
