Auto BILD Porsche Turbo S supertest

Not a direct competitor for M5 but many Turbo S lovers here so enjoy.

Wow, what an impressive machine! And onfireX5 was right about the 0-60 time! I think that’s one of those cars I would stay away from modding the engine, just mod exhaust, wheels etc.

Wow. Another world class and impressive 911 turbo. Just imagine what a lightweight version will do, and more so what the 2RS is going to be capable of when it arrives.

I think 2RS could be AWD this time or go the route of the NSX with electric motors on the front wheels.

I’d like to see as well. What this also tells me is that the despite the M8C making a good bit more power in reality (not quoted manufacturer numbers) M8C, stock for stock, is not in the same ballgame as this car even though the ethos of the two being larger GT cars is the same.

If the 992TTS came with the GT2RS 68/58 turbos, I’d have one on order now. Even with the nubbin. The 60/52’s just isn’t enough over the 58/48’s. The compression drop in the 992 must have mandated the smaller turbo for response. But the 992tts did increase base boost from 18/19 to 20/21. That got the 640hp.

Yes, holding the same mental map for that. Still quite impressive overall. I would guess a simple tune will push this well into the 9s and maybe 143-145 trap.

I agree. It’s very ala 918 and not a single person complained there.

At least they didn't put the nubbin by the steering wheel this time

I was about to buy a 992 before I got my 718 GT4 allocation, and was not concerned about the nubbin at all.

From what Ive heard on videos, even the sport exhaust on the 992 TT-S leaves something to be desired. But in reality thats what would be first for me (exhaust).

Funny, bc this is the first time the turbo has had a sport exhaust option and I think it sounds a lot like the 992 Carreras, which IMO is great. My 991.2 T with PSE and Soul sport cats sounded incredible and got tons of compliments.

Do you know if that lightweight insulated glass option will allow more exhaust sound in?
