Instrument Panel

Excuse my ignorance guys but i need some help. I am ordering an M5 and i keep seeing two different instrument panels. Do you guys know if you can choose between the two or is it only for specific models ?

second picture is the updated live cockpit that comes in 2020+ models

updated instrument cluster design. some like some don't. 2020 models also come with the latest iDrive infotainment version.

Its all subjective, but I agree. I like the older version better. Usually I'm all about updates.

Must be so hard to have both... a "classic" and "modern" one... where you could select the one you like most... wait... it is not... Merc does it... Audi too... BMW... WHAT THE HECK?!?!

What irks me about this "Update" is that the designers refused to give you the option to simply make it look like the older version. I get the idea of "new" but the non-round dials just rub me the wrong way. It's an easy fix....just some computer programming. The new design is 'meh

I have to agree, I always love new updated tech but I think for the instrument cluster the 2018-2019 is much nicer and has enough "tech" for me.

Same, and I hate the counter clockwise moving tach.

After having the new panel for a week or so now I have gotten used to it and really like it. It has some nice features and is easy to follow. It takes a minute to get used to the counter clockwise rotation though.

The only thing is, I haven't found the checkered flag for Launch Control but I have only tried a couple times and you only have like 2 seconds to locate it while you're trying to watch the tach.

I pretty much stare at the heads up display anyways. Wish the flag would show up there

Me personally, I do not care of the new dash layout... New iDrive is fantastic and snappy, but dash? The '18/19 dash is really sexy IMO...

Mine says "Launch Control Active" down in that same area on the new panel. I saw it last night. It's actually setup kind of lame. You don't know if you have done everything correctly until you slam both pedals and then it let's you know? like wtf..hahaha

That's like your buddy telling you if his pool is 4ft or 12ft deep after you dive off the roof in mid flight.

You should be able to set all the requested parameters and then get a big flashing red light or a switch that you can click or something.
