No more pops

Hi guys, about two weeks ago I bought my car in for service. They did an oil change and changed my spark plugs. Since I've got my car back it does not do anymore popping noise in sport plus mode and I have the m sport exhaust. I'm wondering if they're was an update done at my dealer when my car was there. Anybody have an ideas?

You have an M5--your garage tag says 550?

There's a huge discussion ongoing on this topic but its conclusion is that only European cars are affected. Read the thread and let us know what applies to you, etc.

Ok, now if this is a pre July 2019 built M5 with rumbles and pops and BMW "takes it away" by applying an update because of EU regulations... but the car was built before... would this even be legal?

I mean, that's the reason why I took a showroom car... in case they dare to change it they can have it back and I'll ask them for a full refund.

The car is a Dec 2018 built. First day I got the car it had pops and bangs. And as the time went on it was getting louder and I figured out how to make it happen on a dime it was getting predictable. Now it's basically nothing. I'll get one tiny pop here and there. Idk what to do.

Un-Effin-Believable... wrote to my sales person and warned him in case this would happen to me...

If you are in the U.S.A. or Russia you will keep the burbles and pops for now... EU countries and Switzerland lost em.

BUT

Take this with a grain of salt:

Friend told me that his friend is at an M educational/informations event. There he was told that the M versions will get louder again in future.

That was all and no additional informations were given.

Do we have an insider here who could confirm this?

I had my winter tires put on yesterday and while in the shop they performed an update for the backup camera. I noticed right away that the burbles and pops are gone. Really sucks.

Bought my car Friday and they did an update before they delivered it to me (walked into the shop while it was being done). I still have all of the over run noises. My car is a non comp with the M performance exhaust.

Hello My non comp just arrived today at the dealership. I also did the MPE. How are you liking the MPE?

MPE is solid and one can residualize it on a lease which makes all the sense in the world vs going aftermarket. Id argue that any aftermarket exhaust is not going to be THAT much better.

Imagine only paying 40% of the product or whatever the residual opposite is plus MF and tax, amortized over 36 months and covered under a warranty.

Yep, good stuff.

Full disclaimer: I have a First Edition and no MPE available back then. I did get Remus under a smoking fire deal due a sponsorship but thats not available to everyone.

I love it. Just happened to be on the car I wanted so it wasn’t planned but I am very happy it turned out this way. As Vic said, if you e leasing it is a no brainer.

He's from Greece it seems. It is quite alarming if they're really removing the pops and bangs on 2018/2019 models too.

If it's being programmed out on service, surely it can be programmed back in?
