Why are so many people selling their downpipes

Wondering why I keep seeing people selling their downpipes to go back to stock?

Too loud?

Could be that they don't want to flash their ECUs to get rid of the CEL (although JB4 can also help with that). The car does get fairly loud with downpipes, especially on cold start. The first thing I did when I installed downpipes on my F10 was to delete the cold start, but my F10 was already out of warranty.
