Good thing I sent an email to my CA yesterday, asking they not hand wash my car (spray only...to prevent swirl marks), and not install my front plate bracket (i.e. not to drill the holes in my front bumper). I was going to hold off until today or tomorrow to do so, but Cinci's delivery gave me cause to get my requests in sooner...just in case. The last thing I'd want is to get the call from my CA telling me my car was already being prepped, and too late to stave off the dreaded "drilling of the bumper holes!"

What freebies are you guys shooting for??
I'll shoot for:
Floormats (nearly every dealer throws these in anyway)
Full tank of gas
Valve stem caps
Electronic tire gauge
2 Key chains
Luggage/fast food compartment thingy you mentioned

Am I missing any good ones?

What about you, Mr. K?

Mr. Fletcher: Shooot!!! too late to request for no wash. I am hoping delivery on a bright Saturday morning will pick up any paint/boy issues. ut I did go ahead and specified no dealer stickers/decals etc and absolutely no delivery miles!!!! told him to stash the car away in some dark corner until Saturday

During the ordering, was promised the obligatory mats (requested all-season mats though) full tank and keychains. To that I am asking for tire valve caps and exhaust tips (hopefully). If the tips don't work out, I'd ask for the electronic tire pressure gauge (as you mentioned). Can't push for too much, I reckon, given the good price/service received thus far.

wrt fast-food transport facilitator (i.e. cargo organizer) I have ordered that online from Pacific BMW site for about 60 bucks.

Fletcher - it looks like you could use an xi with all that weather!

All - how do you approach getting your "freebies"? I will be getting the mats, but that's all that was discussed.

I never even considered the xi, because I figured I'd be getting the car when snow is more rare than common around here (March-October), and by the time I need to worry about snow again, I can always have some winter tires waiting...or just not drive on days when the roads aren't conducive to driving (rare, because the roads around here are generally cleared very quickly...except during exceptionally large winter events). Besides...I'm a pure rear-wheel drive kind of guy, and honestly, I didn't like the wheels that came with the xi!

In the "pre-prep" email I sent, I mentioned the fact that I was surprised floor mats didn't come with the car (and that most dealers toss them in for free), then told him I'd be interested in discussing other small "extras" he'd be willing to toss into the deal. I also mentioned my appreciation would be shown in my CA/SA evaluation.

Not sure if my approach is proper protocol or not, but I did want to bring it to his attention...

Two hours and 10 minutes from now

I'm planning on being at the dealer at 4:30. Unfortunately it's still raining, but oh well.

I'll get some pictures tonight in the garage after I dry the car with my microfiber waffle-weave towel and give it a nice rub-down with saki.

Forecast here this week is calling for rain Wed and Thu, but temps will be in the 50's all week! Very nice for Chicago this time of year. Rain won't bother me, snow would be quite the bummer, so I'm glad none is being forecasted.

Better make sure to have a bucket of wash and a clean sheepskin mitt to wash her down before you think about drying her off! Saki? Hmmm....never heard of rubbing down a car with that, but I do have some whiskey here I could use on mine!

My CA called me around 2pm to let me know my car arrived earlier this morning. He was able to head them off at the pass with respect to the front plate, and hand wash/wax they put on new arrivals. If not for a meeting I have tonight, I'd be picking her up tonight, and if not for the fact my CA isn't working tomorrow, I'd pick her up then. So...it's Wednesday at 10am! In the meantime, I'll go have a look at her tomorrow just to see how she is! Spacers are ordered, and should arrive the day after I have her in my driveway!

P.S. Got most of my freebies!

Congratulations Mr. K and Mr. Fletcher!!! Wow, I can't believe how fast they are processing and delivering the cars. With these latest posts, I have new found optimism that I will be getting a call this week. Can't wait to see all the pics.

Count me in with the growing list of DJ alumni who have gotten the call. My CA called me this evening and told me they just unloaded my car. I will be going in on Wednesday at 3:30 PM to sign the papers and bring it home.

Congrats to all who got their phone call!

I'm privileged to say that my baby is home and in the garage tonight. I put about 15 miles on her and though it was raining and fairly cold, the car did great - felt great - like a BMW!!

I took a couple of corners pretty hard in the rain and the car rode like it was on rails. There will be a few things to get used to: headlights that change direction when you turn (they take a second or two to reset once you've completed the turn), a pretty long-throw clutch pedal (I'll give this one a little more time 'till I get used to it), and a 6-speed transmission... I'm used to the 5-speed pattern so it's weird downshifting from 6 to 4 for instance... again, it will take some getting used to but IT'S FUN!

I'll post some pix once the weather is a little better.

Oh, and as I was walking through the dealership my SA invited me to pick out one of the clothing pieces on display - on him! I got a nice jacket with the roundel embroidered on it. All in all it was a great experience and I'll be giving him 5's on his report card.

Carguy...not to worry...a matter of days for you. And for what it's worth, I'd wait a couple of days too if I had the weather you describe! We're going to be a rainy, yet "balmy" 50F on Wednesday. Trees budding? Ok...I'm officially not liking the long winters up here once again, because I don't think our trees have even considered transporting their sap back up from underground! On Wednesday though...I won't care! Still...if ya wanna...I'll trade my delivery date for yours...but in return, you have to permanently trade seasonal trends with me!!!

I appreciate the offer, but I will wait the extra day and keep spring.. Lived in Plattsburgh NY for several years as a kid.. Dont miss those winters a bit. Im really OK with the whole wait at this point cause I know when the end is coming. Ive seen a few E90s on the road in the last few days and its really cool knowing I will be tooling around in one by the weekend. B311lee if I was you I would have a few words with my CA, NO WAY I would wait till Monday if my car was there now. He had time to sell it to you, by God he has time to make the delivery.. He just wants to sell more and make you wait.. My vote is you set him straight and really enjoy your weekend.. Mr Fletcher I will spare a thought for you tomorrow AM as you take delivery... Enjoy!

im going back home this weekend cause im at school right now, earliest I could get back would be Friday evening at around 9-10pm. I was a little disappointed tho seeing that he really had little time on Saturday....how long does it typically take to get all the paperwork done? Im assuming hes gonna wanna show me all the tricks and toys on her, but i already know a great deal by reading these posts...argh maybe things will open up?
