Goodbye 14 SG Comp, Hello 19 DG Comp.

I finally pulled the trigger and traded my 14 SG Competition and picked up a 19 M5 Competition. Donington Gray/Aragon with CCB, B&W, EP and DA package. Love the Donington Gray the best description of the color is pewter, given the copper undertones. I originally wanted a Tartufo interior but saw this combo and loved it. Can't wait till the 1200 mile service.

Nice choice! It's my favorite color but I lost patience and compromised on SG to get the right build and right interior.

I personally avoided CCBs since, for me, they artificially hiked the price--artificially because their benefit isn't felt on the road nor the dragstrip... and lack of brake dust isn't a $10,000 option either .

CONGRATS!

Lol
CCB are great but if you use it as DD and you don't take it on track there is no need for such expensive upgrade.
There are many benefits besides dust and reducing breaking distance or even accelerating.
There is so much less rotating mass that you can mainly benefit on race track.
Mine G80 will have CCB because I will use it on race track as much as I can.

Repeated braking, yup--no argument from me. My RS7P literally melted the face of its wheels and they were CCBs; I prefer the melting to not stopping.

Acceleration, though? They account for 7-8 Ibs of weight shed per corner. I seriously doubt you could measure it over anything other than a massive number of laps; it'd sure be interesting to try, though. That said, given that they only account for 30 Ibs, I'll spend the $10K on a spa and shed the same or more weight from the cabin .

Not much if any on acceleration but if you change the wheels to fully forged you shave another 50lbs plus additional 30lbs on CCB that is huge savings on unsprung weight.
That will show on track big time.

But if driven as DD there is no need at all.
I do agree I rather spend 10K somewhere else

Nod, 80 Ibs is getting up there toward a child's weight and I can say for sure that having a child in the car does affect my 1/4 mile. Fat little $h!ts stay home now

Thanks. Yeah definitely don’t need CCB as a daily driver and I will probably only track this a couple of times. Compared to the old car these brakes are amazing.

Having the car Ceramic Coated next week including the wheels...so will never need to worry about brake dust.

I had that done (twice, long story), wheels, too--worth every penny. I'd also recommend having the seats, driver's door handle and center console treated, too--jeans transfer color to the non-black leather easily.
