F10 vs f90 comfort
I’m thinking about upgrading and just want to know if there is a significant difference in ride quality/ suspension harshness. Is the new m5 comp too stiff for 5 hr drives?

I had an F10, and now an F90 comp. The suspension can be too stiff for some in the pre LCI models. I dont recall it being better, worse, or the same in the F10, but my recollection is that the F90 is a little stiffer, but not just the suspension, the car itself feels more solid to me. But thats just a "feeling" with out any hard facts. Could be because my f90 is a comp, and my f10 was not a comp. But personally I enjoy the feel of the f90. In this type of car I like feeling the road a little more, but I suppose it could get irritating if I had to commute on bad roads a hour a day.
Is it worth it to upgrade? Ummmm... If you like, more power, more tech, more luxury, more traction, better handling, and a more reliable motor, the yes. LOL. Night and day better car than the F10, and you'll decimate most f10s on the road. The f90 is superior in pretty much every single way over the f10.... Although there is times I enjoy the exterior of the f10, at some angles, and some colors I think the f10 is a better looking car, but thats very subjective and for me that depends on the color, styling, and certain angles. I don't mean that to say the F90 is ugly, I don't think that at all. But there are rare times I see an F10, I feel like the f10 exterior styling is a little better sometimes. But thats certainly not a "f10 looks better than f90" opinion. I think theyre both very nice looking cars on the exterior. So yes, definitely worth the upgrade. I personally think it's worth it just for the interior alone. But again thats subjective. My f10 was stock, and not modified at all but there was times driving it where it certainly reminded me it had close to 600 hp and only RWD. So the AWD is a great upgrade. Even though many people bitched and moaned when they made it AWD, coming from the F10, there wasn't much more power they could give the M5 without making it AWD in my opinion. It kinda reached the peak and maybe crossed into the dangerous world with the F10 at times when I would turn off traction control. If they gave it the power of the f90, and left it RWD, it would be just a nice handling hellcat, LOL. We know those things are death traps , at least thats my opinion for most of the people that drive them. You wont regret an F90 at all. Last edited by jnotrom711; 01-07-2024 at 09:14 PM.. |

Pre lci base, which should actually ride stiffer than an LCI comp with the updated suspension. Did a 25 ish hour cross country drive. No complaints on comfort.
Few weeks ago I found an F10 and parked next to it. Still a great looking car |

Seems the only differences are the larger scoops that disappear in black color |

In person the F10 does show its age when next to the F90. Overall shape is fairly similar though your right.

The interior however, on the f90 (while a little dated now I guess?) its night and day better than the F10 in my opinion. Exterior? Similar, and neither really stand out as a "wow" exterior. I know many like the more subtle M5 sleeper look. But in the days of cheap electric cars running 10s and 11s 1/4 miles that look like junk, I think it may be time to ditch the sleeper look of the M5 and make it more aggressive. The G80 M3 grill is horrendous, however in my opinion minus the 2 buck teeth, the rest of the car has the aggressiveness I hope they use some of in the new M5. If it's anything like some of the renderings weve seen, it should be have more pop than the f10 or f90. If that "pop" is welcomed or not, remains to be seen! |
