Cabin Filters

Has anyone swapped these out themselves? I would love to swap mine out so long as its fairly easy. Can someone point me to the best place to order the filters and maybe a tutorial on how to get to the filters? Thanks

At least there is one job in these cars that is easier than on some older BMWs.

Are the aftermarket filters pretty decent? I would rather not spend an arm and a leg on a cabin filter. I see Micronair, Hengst, Airmatic, Mahle, etc...

I assume it's not part of the scheduled 3-year maintenance.

Are the WIX brand equal to the OEM ones and it looks like maybe it's impregnated with charcoal for odors?

ETA: looks like WIX isn't available in the USA, all the site seem to be in the UK

It looks like Wix P/N WP10064 is the correct one, but everywhere I've looked seems to be sold out unfortunately.

I just received a set made by MicronAir. I think that's the name of the product but some other German company makes them. They look quality but I haven't installed them yet. Will report back.

update: I just installed these and when I removed the ones the dealer installed they also read "MicronAir" but they also had a BMW logo on them. My guess would be that little BMW logo adds about 60 bucks to the total

You can draw that logo on yourself with a sharpie...

My car got a cabin air filter change at the 2 year service. And it only had about 7K miles on it at the time.

I swapped mine out today at 7k miles, easy to do.

The new filter does have a different part number, maybe an updated part?

I change these religiously every year, they do get dirty from exterior particles and elements.

Got them in a couple days ago, haven't installed yet, but here they are. Also got the intake air filters from WIX as well. Should be here end of the week. Will be swapping both of those, as well as doing a full brake job with iSweep 2000 pads, and SHW Rotors (OEM manufacturer).

You don’t have to use a more restrictive expensive filter like the BMW or Wix. I think I used the Mahle but can’t recall for sure.

I did the change but man i had a headache after. The body contortions i needed to do was like yoga. I also broke a clip trying to get the panel back on and will pay the stealer price on next change.

are you sure you didn't change the intakes in the engine bay by accident? cabin filter was easy, my 8 year old did it for me.

Just changed them. I’m with dougpaper, was “easy” but I’m nauseated and my neck hurts. Not sure I want to do that one again. Get off my lawn!
