Hate to say it but other than probably the i8 I cant remember the last time I saw photos of a brand new BMW and thought wow that's stunning. Its always something like "well maybe it looks nicer in real life". When I finally see them in real life its "well I can live with this". That hasn't stopped me from buying them though (three PCD's and one ED in the last 4.5 years), but I really wish their design language evoked more positive emotions. Who knows, maybe its an industry wide challengewith the need for constant innovation.

i like the front a lot better than outgoing version. Think the different kidneys are more classic.
rear looks MEH. I preferred the geometric looking rear of the outgoing |

Wish it came with an option for a B58 not in M40i trim/tune. No way I'm spending $60k on a 4cyl SUV. But I guess no one is buying regular 6cyl SUVs anymore. Only hopped up sport models (M40i, SQ5, AMG 43) or "I only care about the status" models with 4 bangers.

Looks great...but everything is becoming so cookie cutter with BMW that idk how much longer I'll stay with the brand...X5 looking like X3 looking like 5series looking like 3....there's no longer any supremely real distinction. (Sad face)

I think a lot of that is because of the stricter emmissions and MPG requirements rather than people not buying 6 cylinders. Makers aren't giving us as many larger engine/displacement options except the aforemented hot versions.

Nah those are HIDs. Is it possible this isn't a fully loaded version?

Looks OK but all things look good in black (or dark blue in this case) because all the part lines dissappear. All you see is black (or dark).
I'm a little disappointed about the overall design of the new X3. I'm hoping I may just need to see it in person. I do like the softer appearance but... 1.It really bothers me that the Hofmeister kink is missing in the side view. The side view greenhouse looks generic. The same designer did the X1 and its side view glass looks great. 2.The front end in the M sport is better but busy, the X line and standard X3 are just plain weird with this odd nonsensical horizontal "tusk" part under the fog lights. It's a piece of useless trim. The original sketches were much nicer. 3.The super complex wheel arches are just... weird . They are neither a perfect arc nor are they anything. They just appear to be a bunch of straight lines tangent to the arc and connected by radii. There's no speed to them. These sorts of things appear to be mistakes. 4.The rear end is oK, but where the original F25 broke new ground the G01 seems to be the standard SUV rear bumper cliche' with black urethane bumper and aluminum skid plate (in x Line and std.). 3D tailights- you mean like Porsche and Lexus have been doing or Mercedes back in the 80's. BMW should design with function in mind first. They should be setting trends not following. Right now I'm just "meh". I think BMW needs a fresh design language This one has been evolving but all the BMW cars are so similar and there are so many BMWs out there that it's just getting to be too familiar. You're right. This has been happening for quite some time now. Just now, it seems like they're not even trying to cover it up..

Wait! This vehicle has camo on the badges. I don't think we can say what it is.

They are starting to look all a little similar. The Audi syndrome. I think they are making as many cars as possible for all these niches, like squeezing the last bits of water from a shirt to drink as this market is drying up fast and electric - hybrid- hydrogen is the way to go. So they invest little into design now, it all looks the same. I owned a Z4 Coupe, and that thing I reckon qualifies me as a guy buying wierd quirky cars and knowledgeable of BMW history. I cant frigging tell apart X1s from X3s and X5s anymore, or G series 5 from 7, or sometimes F30 from F10 from the rear. This is lame BMW. I3 and I8 were fresh design language. I hope we see their electric line up looking more like I8 and less like these dreary consumer machines for the leasing soccer mom crowd.

Quite familiar with the visual, Origin, but thanks for sharing again. As it contains an error (stating the Cd is 0.29, which is not correct for the M40i), and as the Presenter of the AutoGefuhl indicates it is only for show, and as Calvin indicated with the 30d it is for show, there has been little hard data to prove. Although I suspect you are correct, that one of the G01 models will have an active breather, little has been shown to simply explain such. As indicated, this isn't a tough call, and it doesn't take but seconds to explain. "Wind tunnel testing showed only the high performance models required a breather, so to maintain consistency of design we closed off the lower performance models but left the decorative design. Only the M and M40i will have the active breather..." [that took 25 sec to type]
