Help: Injector Open Circuit
Hi all.
So, last week my 2019 M5C went into limp mode/drivetrain malfunction after a start with a plethora of codes (see below). 1) Combustion Misfires, Several Cylinders: Exhaust Gas Damaging 2) Injector, Cylinder 6, Activation: Open Circuit 3) Combustion Misfires, Several Cylinders: Exhaust Gas Damaging After Starting Operation 4) Combustion Misfire, Cylinder 5 5) Combustion Misfire, Several Cylinders 6) Combustion Misfire, Cylinder 7 My mechanic just replaced the coils, plugs, and expansion tank hoping to solve it.. #2 is still lingering (Injector, Cylinder 6, Activation: Open Circuit). Any ideas? All help is much appreciated - eager to get her back on the road! |

I thought someone wrote that a leaking coolant tank had damaged an injector or injector wiring. Not sure how to test for that and your mechanic would have seen anything obvious when changing plugs and coils.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was assuming happened to the plugs/coils.. Hoping someone can chime in on logical next steps for the injector.

If it was easy to swap DI injectors, I would swap #6 with another to see if the problem follows. I have pulled N54 injectors but it was not quick and easy like port injection.

Do you think it's coolant-leak related? Still assuming that's my issue.. If so, I'd request they replace your expansion tank/cap as well. I'm also wondering if I should be worried about issues down the road because of this.. |

I'm not sure, I dropped it off today at the dealer, I drove it for 14hrs straight, no issues woke up and on cold start check engine came on.
Codes read that it's misfiring on multiple cylinders, it could be bad fuel but won't know for sure until Tuesday. I will keep you updated |

Just a quick update on this, coolant was overfilled, spilled on the injectors/coils, replaced Sparks and Coils, been driving it ever since without any issues.

Seems like everyone is having this issue lol... I wish my car would throw some fking codes instead of just silently misfiring (it's not even showing up on the misfire counter or knock sensor but I can hear it and it's driving me nuts)

I had a misfire on my 09 CTS-V. I only got a check engine light twice 2 years apart. It turned out to be a cracked plug almost certainly from the factory.
It was finally found after VIR when some old guy spectator said he could hear my car missing. The dealer then investigated more and saw misfire counts going up even without a CEL. |
