Cylinder 7 Misfire
Woke up this morning to a check engine light - error code 140710 cylinder 7 misfire.
A year and a half ago I already had the expansion tank leak that was fixed - but when I had cylinder error codes for that, it came with a drivetrain malfunction warning within the car. This time, no warnings in the car, just the check engine light. Anyone have experience with this and potentially any ideas? |

No, I haven't yet - just pulled the code. I mean I'd hope I don't have any leaks from the coolant expansion tank considering I had it replaced last year along with fuel injectors and spark plugs 6 months ago.

Happened to mine with the expansion tank. all fixed under warranty, although they only changed the plugs that were misfiring, and not all of them.

Like you replaced the tank once and then you ended up having secondary problems later down the road? Or just the once and had everything fixed? Because I've already gone thru the whole leak issue over a year ago - now random misfiring again. I've had all my spark plugs replaced since the first leak.

7 is under the tank so a leaking coolant related issue is the most likely suspect. Maybe it is old damage or maybe new. There have also been a few reports of spark plugs not tightened enough. They are low torque like 18-22 lbs but you need a special thin socket or you may be confused by the friction of a fatter socket against the sides of the spark plug hole. Apparently injectors have also failed so a fuel injection issue could cause a misfire.
