Yeah, at this point I expected how ugly everything else would be, but the back seat upholstery execution is probably the most jarring for me. I don't know what they were going for, but it looks unfinished. Like a cheap velvet cover that doesn't fit over the seats right. It really does look like something you'd pick up on Amazon to put your dog on so your back seat doesn't get ruined.

It's pretty much guaranteed that this will not make it to the production model, so it means little. But as a concept vehicle pointing to the future production model, really not sure what BMW was going for there.

YES, finally someone said it, this looks x10000 better then the IX, it's not beautiful in annnnnyway way and doesn't look BMW at ALLL but they have made this design language that started with the g22 4 series work. I think (and hope) that just like the g42 2 series, it grows on people and the other models normalize it. I most of all hope that the next gen G70 7 series looks good with this design language, cause it will most likely look like a sedan version of this. Cant wait for 7 series renders now

What is this Klingon Design philosophy? Good, bad, or indifferent- damn sure can’t say it’s not a bold design. Like others have mentioned, I am interested in seeing what the final production model looks like.

I'm sorry, but what have you got against Klingons?

In the latest interview with Markus Flasch (outgoing Geschäftsführer BMW M GmbH - NOT a CEO, more like an MD - but German companies don't quite understand American corporate titles) he hints that BMW M is aiming at the top end SUV market - e.g. URUS and the likes. So I expect this to be above 200.000 EUR - thus not quite the usual BMW crowd I guess…

Something tells me that the whining will end and everyone will just jump on the wagon.
Especially when this "thing" shows you its ass from the traffic light...and you're in F95/F96. LOL

Obviously the velvet is for the showcar only -- Dukec justifies it as being traditionally the kings' upholstery, and by the rear compartment's excessively flamboyant overall esthetics emulating some sort of rockstar's backstage lounge.

I'm still having trouble picking up my jaw, it fell down that long.

Makes my E36 look like the most beautiful car ever made.

I completely agree with that, and I'm not opposed to velvet seats/upholstery in the slightest, regardless if it's concept only or not. But the way the seats and rear floor mat were executed in this concept car looks very rushed/not finished in my opinion. The seats have nowhere near the contour of even the cheapest cloth seats available in economy cars today, and the floor mat to me looks like a rectangular aftermarket floor mat that was loosely placed over the floor. Even the front seats have a F-150 King Ranch vibe going on with the leather looking halfway worn already. But at least those are tightly and neatly finished.

In my opinion, it doesn't match the craftsmanship and detail put into anywhere else on the car. I don't like much about this car at all to be honest, but the rear seat and floor mat just stuck out at me as a step far below the rest.

Yeah, I just don't like this concept. There are certain angles it works, but over all it is a mess. If the final version doesn't look better, I won't consider it and just follow through on my Hummer SUV allocation.

All the explanation about the details of the design is pure BS...it's like they create something completely ugly and after they create a narrative about the failed design...anyway the interior, especially the rear is...I have no words to explain it...

Oh my .....

I honestly think that the BMW Design team has lost their minds.

I could NEVER buy something this hideous.

Ignoring design (which is mostly pretty terrible, except for some very small details and the wheels), I'm so disappointed that this was the ever so hyped standalone M car we were waiting for. Wtf bmw??!!

If this is priced to compete with the Urus I'd laugh. Newsflash: No one who wants an Urus will even think about buying this, just purely based on the badge. Once the Ferrari SUV hits the market it's game over for this thing, dead in the water amongst its supposed competition.

Now that I think about, what market is this M schoolbus for?

Definitely don't think this will be priced to compete with the Urus. Thinking more like RSQ8 (which is basically an Urus but half the price). I do think it'll be pricier than the RSQ8, but definitely nowhere near the $220k mark that the Urus starts at, or whatever $200k+ price the Ferrari SUV will start at.

Nobody is going to be cross-shopping this with an Urus or Ferrari SUV.

Most folks that buy a Urus thinking it's awesome have buyers remorse.....

Just look how many owners sell low mileage used ones are out there.
