M5 competition vs M850i
Hello, I am torn between the M5 competition Vs M850i. I am going to lease and planning to order one. I appreciate your thoughts and input in advance! Cheers....

personally would rather wait for an m8 comp package...which given how bmw seems to be staggering releases out is probably 2 years out? just enough time to lease an M5 before i get bored of it

I think you're comparing apples to oranges as far as performance..but I assume you're comparing the two based off of the price point. For me the M5 Competition is the clear choice.. I think the M850i looks a little cooler (even though I think the rear end is too busy and slightly ugly) and is newer so there is more hype about it right now. But think about the day to day driving and which one will be more fun and bring a smile to your face.

I will wait for M8, rather than M850i.
Go with M5 and trade in for M8 when it comes out..

My guess is that the M8 will have a base MSRP over $150k.

I have now driven the M5, M5 Competition, and the M850i within the span of 8 days and honestly they are all awesome options! The M5 has loads of power, amenities/luxuries, and 4 doors. The M5 Comp bests the M5 in the suspension arena and is noticeably more poised at high speeds, as you'd expect from the Competition model. The Comp model had the M Performance titanium exhaust and it sounded epic! I am currently driving the M850i and I am pleasantly happy and surprised as well! It's fast, responsive, handles very well, and just looks so sexy! The one I'm driving has the carbon fibre exterior accessories and Carbon Fibre roof as well. The exhaust note from the stock system is awesome too! The M5 power is more brutal then the M850i and suspension is stiffer. The M850i is much more smooth and far more refined then the M5. Ask yourself, what are you after, brutal performance or powerful comfort? I hope that helps!
