Sounds right. My insurance wanted to replace my m performance exhaust with stock exhaust.

First off - Happy to hear that you survived what looks like a violent crash. You are in fact, very lucky to be alive. I have not seen any other M cars totally destructed like this on a public roadway which raises the question....

Exactly how fast are you driving? And on a 2 lane public road with no guardrail and a row of very very old looking, well rooted trees as your "barrier"

Def not the car man. Id probably keep buying BMW's if you are going to drive as wild as this and hope to report back time and time again...

I broke my clavicle years ago.. its a real B to heal. God speed.

Pretty sure even if going the speed limit which he said was 65 the same outcome would have happened on such a road. The "speed" did not cause this. He didn't swerve to miss it and lost control. He hit it and couldnt stop anymore due to damage. Curse is a bit much but definitely bad luck. Hi are my sounds like the coon wrapped up the passenger wheel which caused him to lose control.

But none of us were there so passing judgment based on opinion helps no one.

Again, pictures are from tow yard not scene of accident, accident occurred on a 3 lane each way divided limited access road called the Garden State Parkway, plenty of guardrails where you go off into the water, trees, not so much lol, I actually just barely missed the guardrail here.

Not sure what happened, was going about 80, after I hit the thing, applied very light brake pressure to start slowing down and try to pull over to see damage, as soon as my foot touched the brakes rear end broke loose and I was going completely sideways, car didn't respond to any inputs, in a last ditch effort mashed brakes to floor in hopes abs would figure something out and brakes went straight to floor with almost no feedback... so maybe a brake line? Oil cooler then coated rotors? Per cops at the scene there was a trail of fluids leading into the trees from the raccoon so something definitely broke.
And again the road in the pics is not where the accident happened, it was a 3 lane each way highway, I was in the right lane about 2miles from my exit just didn't have enough road to do anything before I was in the grass lol. Guess this is a sign to always be in the middle lane gives you more "space" to make some miracle happen😅

I won’t take sides in this back and forth, but as a NJ resident who regularly drives the GS Parkway I’ll add some more info. In addition to being limited access, commercial vehicles are prohibited. With no trucks, the natural flow of traffic is 75-80 mph, especially at the southern end of the state where it’s basically dead straight. If you try to drive the 65 mph speed limit you have other cars flying past you (on both sides if you happen to be in the middle lane), which can be more dangerous than going 80 with the flow of traffic.

Yeah this was wayyy south by exit 42, where trucks are allowed but still everyone does ,85 easily.

Hi Op,

You have nine lives for sure! One quick question, did you have DSC all the way off?

As mentioned before (I guess it's getting a lot to read now lol) no I never turned dsc all the way off heck even mdm mode unless I was just trying to whip the rear end out pulling out of a parking lot at 3 am on a deserted road. But as soon as I get moving I leave all nannies on except for lane departure assistant, just feel safer and more comfortable that way, the car should be able to save my ass (and most cars have and will) but I whatever happened the car couldn't cope with it (which is why I'm guessing fluids leaking were a main culprit, car can't do anything if there is 0 traction)

But yeah I do have 9 lives lol I'm very resilient, only reason I have a broken collar bone, is I suspect my seat back actually broke (was going to get car serviced for seat frame being broken) because in the accident the seat back basically fully reclined instead of going and staying upright like it's supposed to... (and seat back was pretty wobbly prior to accident) now I don't know for sure but I suspect seat back reclined and from momentum of me slamming into seat belt is what caused injury... (wife's seat was fully upright) and I've taken harder hits than that and walked away with nothing.

Severely lol, never had a really bad accident until this, usually something minor that ends up totaling cheaper cars (older with super high mileags bmws). But just in general I'm typically unlucky even when it comes to like gambling and stuff, never won a giveaway, always loose at the casino, if I'm around others at the casino they don't win anything either (then always win when I'm not around lol)

But like the odds of this, hitting a relatively small animal that should've cracked my splitter and maybe bumper in normal circumstances to this, I think you can see where I'm going with this lol.

Not the car, perhaps down to the driver. Hardly a slow accident

Glad you are OK and were able to walk away. Sorry to hear about your ride. Bad luck, but hard to blame the BMWs. Maybe the driver (haha)? Right at the third month on all 3; were you just exiting the engine break-in period? Maybe the wife should drive these awesome cars you order.

Cars come and go, but glad to hear to hear that you were good! Shows to the strength of these cars. When I totaled my F10 I said the same thing that if I was in another car I might not have had as few injuries thank god!

If you'd taken the time to read some of the responses you'd have seen that the other crashes had nothing to do with me, and they weren't new cars either. On this car had 5800 miles already and was going to put another 5k by the end of this month had this not happened if you're so curious. And if you'd like to talk about the wife's driving skill, just know she can't even stay in between lane markings, cuts every corner wayyyy too sharp, has ZERO clue where cars are relative to her or where her own car is relative go anything else in the world, and for these reasons she doesn't drive. Since everyone feels so inclined to bash my driving, just know as a 24yo I probably have more miles on the road than most if not all the people commenting on this post and I regularly drive 10+k miles a month and for years I was doing 30k+ a month which got me banned from hertz due to "abuse and excessive mileage" so yeah let's comment on driving skill when you've driven over a million miles, I'd love to chat with you! And no I'm not a long haul truck driver, this was driving regular cars, sometimes a pickup truck and not a single accident the whole time thankfully. Seems a bit odd that all of a sudden I've become such a bad driver but hey what do I know? For the past million miles when I hit some road kill and hit the brakes the car comes to a nice controlled stop instead of turning 90 degrees and sliding off the road.

Wow man! I'm sorry about the car! But I'm glad you walked away with just minor injuries. Looks like the car did a great job protecting you overall. Here's to a speedy recovery!
