Man, if my car protected me like that I'd be at the dealer ordering another one. Or a Volvo lol. I understand your reluctance, though.

Wasn't wet at time of accident, but rained throughout the morning before I got those pics at the tow yard, still very good advice.

You need to ask yourself what was the biggest common denominator in your multitude of other accidents; HINT... It wasn't the car.

BMW poses a double-edged sword for you. The very high level of performance proves an irresistible temptation, but its solid construction and passive safety features, speak for themselves.
You tried to help him, but he'll never get the hint. He wants to blame the car, the raccoon, BMW, but not himself. This is what happens when you pair a JV driver and a varsity car.

All I see are assumptions but sure lol you know the speed limit and how fast I was going as well as time and location of accident and were in the car with me huh? I'm not really blaming anyone all I've done was state the events that occurred, sorry you think it takes an m5 to reach highway speeds or that any other 4500 lbs sedan would've reacted differently.

Micvite, one thing to take away from this accident is that no matter how you are driving in your next vehicle with your wife at your side she will be complaining that you are going too fast. All it takes is one scary accident to end the "Hey honey let me show you what this car can do around this turn" Drive safely and arrive alive.

Are you an alt account of Bob's? Did Bob feel ignored, even after having made some pretty large assumptions and inserted himself as judge where none was needed or desired? Even though it's no longer officially recognized, the diagnosis "Asperger's" comes to mind. See? I can make my own assumptions, too. How about you two go start your own thread on traffic safety, going exactly the speed limit, and talk about how great you two are while the rest of us commoners have real conversations?

Some of us are just such piece of shit drivers so we need "intervention" from our upstanding members on how to drive our cars. Thank god they are here to teach us the right way. Really dislike inserting myself into drama but some peoples lack of empathy to someone almost losing their life by bashing how "JV" their driving was in a "Varsity" car is just enraging.

Looks like you can't take a hint either. Feel free to find another forum to join.

Yeah we've already negotiated speeds lol, thankfully nothing too snail paced, probably since speed wasn't a factor in the crash. She's never really had issues with speed as long as it was open road with good visibility and I'm not dumb enough to find out where the tires give in inclement weather, especially since I had pirellis I don't think I've gone past 60 while wet I just don't trust those road legal slicks in the rain lol.

With all due respect to everyone, including @micvite, (who I am glad escaped this accident relatively unscathed), there is many threads where micvite is doing the exact same thing, ie: mentioning people don't know how to drive, and how he slams on the brakes at every opportunity to make them not squeak, and mashes the brake pedal to the floor coming to a stop from freeway speeds... So with that said, while i'm glad everyone is ok, quite frankly the bashing of anyone and their driving ability (in any thread) is silly unless you've witnessed it first hand. Assumptions of one thing or another regarding the crash aren't relevant whatsoever. However, I do definitely recognize neither the OP or others are innocent of condescending comments and tone in this thread, as well as other threads.

This thread specifically just seems a little less appropriate to make brash comments about driving ability. Wether or not you think OP knows how to drive, or not, wether or not it was truly his fault or not, wether it was actually the raccoons fault or not. OP is lucky to be alive, and lucky its just a car.

On a side note anyone have experience dealing with insurance? They're trying to say my 157k msrp car is worth the same as 120k msrp cars in their comparative analysis, not sure what the best way to argue this is... their cars are selling right at or slightly above msrp, they're valuing mine at 125k which is 32k less than msrp for a 4500 mile car.

In the end the question will be what does your policy say? Do you have gap insurance?

Policy says acv of car which I think they're not calculating right ( I have 24k worth of port installed options). I have gap but that's gonna do little to get back my down-payment unfortunately... I can accept even not getting full value but a 32k depreciation in this market is a bit absurd

I am so sorry to see and so sorry to hear. I am glad you are alive to tell us about this. It seems like you have had your life saved 3 times when in all reality could have been much worse. From the looks of these pictures, you are blessed to be here today, and I guess you can say BMW safety features came in handy this time. I wish you well and luck on your next car.

Yeah other times were comparatively minor, just having trunk floor pushed in and vert roof inop which caused the total loss, also not expensive cars either lol.

Not any good experience. I'm currently looking at being $20k out of pocket. It's not a good climate to be dealing with insurance. They want to cover cost of a few years back and totally ignore current inflated everything.

Ironically the comps they sent are selling at msrp with 3-6k miles, they're just not factoring my options properly... like they're factoring paint but not interior or any of the factory installed carbon
