I like the car - the tires look a bit chunky in this build but it looks like a menace. I'd likely choose the green color. The froze paint blends better with the bronze too.

The sentiment here seems to be that spending $135K on an M5 is perfectly reasonable, but spending $150K on an M5 with carbon buckets is completely idiotic and a waste of money.

Hmmm, 15k extra I could understand, but in Europe it's rather a jump from 130k€ to 180k€ (Germany/Belgium). So 50k€ requires for a real fan.

Weight saving is ridiculous for such a big car.

dont worry, dealers will try and oversell the shit out of this thing and it will flop. Just like the M3/4 CS. Those things went on fire sale because nobody touched them because of ridiculous mark ups. Same will apply here.

i just dont get it, looks hideous with that nasty bronze grill and wheels. They have managed to make it look not as cool as the latest normal LCI M5 Comp. The bonnet works on exterior but rest..yuk

i wouldn't say the car is hideous, gold wheels are a no for me, however.

it's just a pointless car.

I don't think it is any more pointless than an M3 CS, or M2 CS for that matter. Very few people buy these cars to track - they want them because they're a sharper version of the base car .

I have no idea what the next M5 will look like, but I'm certain it will have some form of hybrid tech and be even heavier. BMW is offering a hardened version of a model I own and love that will undoubtedly deliver a more engaging driving experience. It won't be my daily driver so it's an emotional purchase that doesn't need to make sense.

The m5 is 4200lbs, they now make a CS version of it that saved what, 150lbs? whats that gonna do on a track? Anything thats 2 tons is not made to "track"

so again, this weight saving m5 makes no sense to me.

M3 and M2 can be a track car no issue.

I wonder what people in the 90s thought of the several E34 editions - specifically, the Winkelhock car with comfort amenities thrown out of it.

I'd rather have CS versions of M5s and M8s than another FWD-based or SUV garbage. CS cars is what M GmbH is all about from performance and technology standpoints. Not disputing they want a bit too much for them, though.

What percentage of owners buy a CS for regular track duty, or even track it once? The primary reason these models are popular is because they offer a more raw and engaging driving experience on regular roads, while also being more track-capable if the owner chooses to indulge in that. Enthusiasts are also drawn to the more aggressive styling.

The M5 CS is a super niche car and won't make sense for most people. I doubt BMW expected it to.

Ps. What's the weight of the Camero ZL1?

On that last note...let’s not forget about the Ford GT500. Approx. 4100 lbs.

And what to think if (or when?) the CS sets the lap record at the Nurburgring for a sedan?

Dealers in LA are going to ask $20K over sticker and I think it will backfire on them quickly.

Well at 4050 lbs is same weight as the new G80 M3 which you say it can be a track toy

I like it. Beautiful and unique. The same guys complaining about the CS are the same one who spent $25-35k extra on aftermarket equipment. So you can listen to them in the comments section. 🤣

I’m going to agree, it’s beautiful and unique...in its own right. Anyone though who will spend $25-$35k, or even $10-15k for that matter, will have a more agile, quicker, faster, and perhaps better looking or at least as beautiful F90 as the CS. For someone who just has to have the “special model” that’s all good too. If I had a 10 car garage, I’d probably get it because it is what it is and I love my M’s. I’d definitely have to make more friends who don’t get car sick because if I’m making use of the 4 racing buckets, I’m putting them to use and going balls out every chance I get.

Well, we are still in the age of COVID so I don't mind him wearing the helmet.
