I applaud Cadillac for trying but I can’t wait to blow the doors off these in my 2019 M5 when Cadillac finally releases them. 😅💪

I remember test driving a 2018 CTS V back in 2018 before buying my current 2018 M5. The CTS V was traction limited coming off the line and one had to judiciously work the accelerator pedal to effectively for a perfect launch. Too bad Cadillac did not put an AWD in the CTS V Blackwing.

Getting my wife an M8 was all a ploy so she doesnt have anything to use against me when my 6 speed CT5-V comes in. Cannot wait for this.

Almost bought the last CTS-V. Handling was fantastic with great feel.

CT5-V looks great and I applaud Cadillac continuing to push forward. They are also working hard to build a racing heritage now and I believed they finished second at the Daytona 24 Hours last weekend. Pretty cool to see.

Not putting AWD in the CT5-V Blackwing is a mistake, in my opinion. With so much hp, traction will be a major issue and I don't know how many people actually look for a RWD-only performance sedan.

That's like sending your wife on an all-paid shopping trip to Paris just so that you can grab beers with the boys.

Not saying it's not worth it. Haha

I agree with that analogy.

Expensive and boring vs cheap and fun.

as long as she is distracted with it i can have my fun.

It will be ok. It’s the same car as my ZL1 1LEs. 0-60 won’t be great. Roll runs will be outstanding with the A10.

All I’m saying is the CT5-V should’ve at least offered awd as an option. It’s still a daily driving performance SEDAN.

They should have given options like new M3

AWD and auto
Rwd and manual

AWD would be close to 2.5 0-60

who cares about AWD? I can tell you who, people who haven't ever driven a 6 liter supercharged v8.

I'm picking up my new M5 from the dealer today, coming out of this 17 CTSV. I've also got one of the first 250 allocations for the CT5V Blackwing, and was planning on getting one, but opted for the M5 instead. The V I'm getting out of today is hands down my favorite car I've ever owned. I do agree that the lack of AWD is an issue. Launch control was decent however, but I don't like to daily/city drive in the specific mode that allows launch control, so I'd have to cycle through numerous settings, hold buttons down for several seconds to get to it, which was a pain, especially when someone pulls up next to you unplanned. I live 5 minutes from mulholland hwy, Kanan canyon road etc., so I'd often take the car through the twisties up there. It handles amazing and Cadillac nailed it. I absolutely love my V, and will miss it. I'm hoping my new M5 will bring me just as much joy. Looking forward to owning a turbo V8; first time for me.

I prefered my C7 Z06 to my performante because of how much more fun the supercharged v8 / rwd combo was. On track perfromante was very similair, the performante felt like i was ballet dancing, precise, a work of art, and the corvette felt like i was on the back of a wild bull at my first rodeo.

Different experiences.

Charlie that CTSV is nice. I probably would have stuck with the Caddy if I was happy with it. Hopefully the M5 fits the bill.

Thanks. Like I said my favorite car I've owned. The mileage was getting up there. It was time to get something new. Really hope the M5 is as fun to drive as the V.

Oh boy. Arguably the M5 is the better car, faster, more responsive to mods, AWD, more refined, much smoother, but so smooth and refined fun is not a word i would use to describe it.

Sad my z06 lease was up, looking to get into an exotic now that will top the Z.

Interesting you describe the Perf that way, i still LOVE the way that dam car looks. So much better than regular H

I came from a 2016 Hellcat Challenger I had for 5+ Years, also my favorite car I’ve owned (Mopar guy). I was concerned going from a supercharged 6.2 to a twin turbo 4.4....basically on how the power would be delivered. Good friends have twin turbo sports cars, and seem to have a bunch of lag. The M5 still has it compared to a supercharged V8, but minuscule. RWD was starting to get old with over 700 horsepower, I started to believe I was going to kill myself.

So after cross shopping everything (I needed a sedan), the M5 was the best performer. You are going to appreciate the AWD, and after the 1,200 mile checkup, It’s a “holy shit” fast. The Hellcat told you it was fast from spinning the tires to 70, loud exhaust, etc. the M5 is flat.out.fast. No comparison. If you lined up to your CTS from a stoplight, the M5 will have you by a car length before you can even get grip. It’s truly fantastic. Enjoy.

Thanks, Otto. Not gonna lie, was a bit bummed dropping off the V and driving home the M5. Your post makes me feel a lot better. Much appreciated. Definitely looking forward to hitting 1200 and getting that first service done👊🏻

100%

It was my favorite car as well. Ive had almost every super car under the sun other then a ferrari but none of them made me feel like the C7 did. My wife was terrified to be a passenger in that car with me, her M8 she will literally be facetiming me as she launches it off lights. A week into ownership she brought up how it was too quiet and how the F80 we upgraded from was a bit more fun to whip around with the rwd and thats how the juicebox and cat delete happened haha She is a 25 year old nurse so its not like she is a seasoned driver, the car is just so tame and smooth to drive even with the 600hp it feels like something is missing. This isnt necessarily a negative if that is what you are looking for, but like you mentioned people asking if their significant other is safe to drive the other are either delusional or doing it to stroke their ego

The performante was amazing, i have nothing negative to say about it, it was reliable, unstoppable on the track, looked like sex, and the sound was better then sex.

Here is a clip of right before i sold the Z, i was driving it and my brother in law was in the lambo, at this point the Z was just upper pulley and 93 octane tune. Enjoy

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I’ll be shocked if you find the M5 to be as fun as a CTS-V. More luxurious and better build quality, yep. Significantly faster from a dig, yep. More fun on a twisty road? Not a chance.
