Sorry to hear that you're delayed until July and possibly August. I have been told that since the 2017 productions will start in July, the MY16 are definitely being built in June. Just the production date on when it begins is unsure. Thankfully there is light at the end of this tunnel. Keep me updated! I would like to know how long your process took and more!

It is very likely it's the Takata airbag. within the last several months, there has been loads of takata airbag recalls from every major manufacturers. The biggest problem is the supply of airbags. Takata just can't produce enough to meet the requirement. Some manufacturers have been waiting for replacement airbags for months despite running the recall close to a year ago.

That said, I really hope this won delay my delivery; ordered at the end of last month on the last 2016 production allocation. I was told that the vehicle will be in production on the 25th week (next week) and is stated for delivery at the end of July. Chances are, your production and my production will likely go in at the same time if the factory is in fact switching over to begin 2017 production in July.

I would stay on top of it, talk with your CA and BMW Canada and see if they can guarantee you an allocation or speed up the process. I had read before on these forums that someone had ordered a car and it ended up going into next year's model.

So I was worried mine would end up being cancelled and have to get a 2017, which I didn't want because it'll be more expensive and higher interest rate. So just be pushy with them a bit, I had to and they finally were able to get me an allocation. (I ordered end of March, was told they'd do it for April, it didn't go through then I kept pushing them and they guaranteed me an allocation for May which they gave me a production number for. Try to get a production number so you can get the VIN from BMW Canada.

Sorry to hear that! Most people I know who ordered had to wait a minimum of 2-3 months. Ask your CA for your production and VIN #. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! I'm sure I'm not the only one that's waiting. I just got my production # and VIN from my CA and confirmed that my 2 will arrive before mid Aug! How's it looking on your end?

When my CA told me about the delay, she asked me if I wanted to switch to the M240i as the arrival date is about the same. I agree with you, even with the new B48 engine and all the minor stuff like Apple carplay, I couldn't justify the price increase for stuff that I don't really need. I'm not the type who chases after the newest stuff anyways. Plus, who knows - there may even be another delay for the M240i.. I'm done waiting, to be honest. I confirmed to sticking with the 2016 model and got my production # and VIN from my CA! How long did your whole process take?

Argh! I am still waiting for the production date!! I don't even have an estimated delivery yet. When did you receive your VIN may I ask? Does yours mention the production date? If that's the case does that mean my delivery might end up being the end of August 2016?

Hang in there, lol the wait is brutal but it'll be worth it!

My timeline:
March 28 - Placed order
April 13 - Got production# and VIN
May 7 - Production date
May 19 - Left Germany on the boat
June 1 - Boat arrived to Halifax
June 16/17 - Picking up car from dealership!!!

I got my production and VIN just a few days ago. I was told that production is in June, but haven't gotten any specific date. But she confirmed that it would arrive prior to mid Aug (but I have my doubts). She said that it was just the RWDs that are on delay and kept asking if I wanted to switch to xDrive that would be available a lot sooner.

Have you tried asking your CA? Cause they should be able to provide to you.

FYI, I got my VIN on June 7th and on June 15th it came up as beginning production. I called BMW Canada and confirmed it was in production that afternoon and it advised it's in the painting stage. I should call again tomorrow for an update since it's been two days. Kind of like the car is now conceived and now waiting for birth....

Mine is in production today - June 17! We are proud parents, haha BTW, do you know if we are getting the new iDrive system?

No new iDrive system for the M235i, those are only placed on the M240i/230i 17 models. It would be a surprise if they ran out of the older iDrive systems and decided to fit us with the new ones.....but I highly doubt it.

Rep will contact me on monday regarding status. BMW Canada as of yesterday still can't confirm a build date and VIN. Considering the m240i at this point.

That sucks! I was about to order through T+C BMW and I am glad now I didn't. I don't want to be pushed to an M240i with higher rates and residuals. The cost of the car has also gone up $500 for the base and the packages have also gone up a few hundred bucks. All in all the total cost of the car could potentially be $2000-3000 more expensive depending on the options you go for. All for the price of a new unsure engine and new badge and a 2017 year model. I don't think it's worth it at this point and would fight for the same cost/rates if it was pushed to 2017!!!!

According to BMW Canada when I called them chronically today, the adviser told me that my vehicle production is complete and is on the way to get shipped. My assumption is that the car will be trucked over to Bremerhaven but missed the June 21st ship out date. My frantic stalking and searching online led me to WW logistics website and vigorously track their ship dates. Turns out the next departure date is June 29th so I guess my car will have to sit in the car park port for about 5 days before it gets boarded.... Estimate arrival to Halifax would be July 11th, and from then on I guess it'll take another 10 days before it arrives to my dealership & I'll finally get to meet my car for the first time by the end of July! Still another 4 weeks away but I'm excited as hell.

Hey siwo to get you some sense of timing, my car arrived in Halifax June 20th and made it to the BMW inventory yard (Concord) June 21st. according to BMW Canada when I called. it did however take 11 days to cross the ocean.

Update: I may have been misinformed the port that I was referring to is in Halifax going to the dealer tomorrow to find out more.

The M235i won't go into production. We've agreed to at least 5% off the M240i's MSRP while we wait for info on the new rates, I'll certainly push for more.
