M5 LCI Euro spec

Hey guys

Just recently picked up my new to me M5 LCI, located in Europe so it has got the infamous soundkiller OPF

For those of you who know,

1) possible to remove OPF without a tune to code out the CEL?

2) possible to switch secondary downpipes only?

3) different downpipes on LCI / pre LCI or is the connections the exact same?

4) can I fit a stock exhaust from an -18 without OPF on this car?

1. Not sure

2. YES

3. Same downpipes (MAD makes great downpipes for a fraction of the cost of anyone else i would suggest checking them out)

4. Yes

1. Yes, look up Leib motorsport
2. yes
3. Check if you have EUR06 or EURO06II exhaust configuration.
4. No, you will not have the pressure sensor connections. You will hit limp mode right away.

This is for an EU spec car only

1 - yes, but you need an OPF DELETER kit, which still throws CELs from time to time

2 - yes, because it doesn't have a sensor, but most probably the OPF sensor will detect it, since it's after the 2nd dp

3 - they are different https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1978697

4 - the downpipes are different and specifically in this case the 2nd. So you would need modify it because it ends with a flange and not a clamp.

Take my advice and don't bother modifying the exhaust unless you're willing to tune it. These OPF deleter kits has over time been shown to be unreliable, several users still get CEL from time to time, and the only solution to their problem was to tune the car. You do not actually need to tune the car in terms of adding more power, but you have to do some reprogramming in the ECU in order to get rid of the CEL. Messing with the ECU will void your warranty.

There are ways to switch off the OPF detection system, without having to tune the car or use physical piggy back OPF deleters. Can be done remotely too.

Including Euro LCI cars.
