Heck naw. Majorly overpriced. Which is why the market isn’t there.

RK charges $15k but that does not include engine removal and reinstall; the roughly $19k Evolve price includes that. I don’t think this is a simple or easy job — describing it as replacing head bolts and installing rods massively understates the work.

My understanding, which may be incorrect, is the engine portion of the build is only rods and head bolts and that is roughly $19K+. This is based on the post by Evolve "Mr VANOS Built Engine - Uprated MV1400 Rods + Head bolts". I understand that is involves pulling the engine out, removing heads, etc. I believe in another engine build video they posted this takes about a week. Maybe that is reasonable and the going rate for such work. I hope I never have to find out personally.

So are you saying RK is charging $15K just for piston rods and head bolts and no labor?

The Evolve fee is turn key — drop off car, pick it up completed a week later. The RK fee is for you to send them an engine and then pick up the engine.

Why would anyone spend that kind of money and not add forge pistons and forge crank shaft while motor is open is beyond me.

When modding car, you need to modify all parts as otherwise they become the weakest link for failure.

Cool car though

If the crank is not currently forged, who makes S63 forged cranks? If new pistons would require sleeving, would you sleeve the S63? Do you know of many successful long term reliable sleeved S63?

There is a really good video Evolve has on YouTube talking about the upgraded rods. It talks about the reason they do not make other changes such as forged pistons. It also mentions the engine block change between Pre-LCI and LCI. I saw this in BMW documentation before but could not locate it when people ask about LCI charges.

I guess when you consider the parts are $7000, an additional $12k to pull the engine, do the work, all the additional materials, put the engine back and test is not that bad.

I watched the Evolve video - it is impressive but I think that car got some upgrades like bigger turbos.

It is overly price. The G80 or G82 job doesn't cost that much to do.

Now to have a 1000 HP M5 requires Vargas drop-in Rods just only. The weak point on the F10 and F90 remains the rods, therefore, how can you justify the costly build just for Rods replacements (Let's just say)?

What's the common theme as I mentioned, "RODS ONLY" The engine is robust enough once you change the RODS. But to charge customers 12 K to drop an engine that is absurd. I have had many engines built and the cost to drop an engine is 6k to drop and put it back up.

Does anyone know how much it costs to ship an engine from the US?

I think the video you're referencing is this one, where we take a deep dive in to the engine package.

This is literally the case of automotive equivalent of cosmic convergence: 1000HP meets the road where all this power can be exercised legally.

What a build.

Once you have a proper build like this, you don't need the weird stick-on Msport parts to look different or feel sporty! Great job!

Omg that autobahn run is insane @130MPH I felt every tiny bumps in the road in my M3. The fact that he was able to get up to 200MPH with what looked like relative ease is amazing.

I’m jealous looks like lots of fun. I’ve done plenty of laps around the road course with f90 but to really open it up would be a treat. Obviously this is a completely different beast with the engine work.

That is a sweet spot that myself and Mr Vanos have been using in our daily/family cars for a while now. I like not having to rely on the meth all the time.
