Well, my PA4 on 20" they improved so much after about 50 km drive. Today in rain at 9 degrees Celsius tremendous grip, no TC light under heavy acceleration. Impressive.

Mine has the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5* in 265/40 R19 all around - no issues at all, even on wet roads during low temperatures.

Same here with the Michelin tires... unreal grip for a car this heavy and under those conditions.

DSC issue makes no sense, but you should tell the car that you have on the snows, etc. In vehicle settings, tires, you can select summer and the size or winter and the size, so car knows what pair of shoes she's wearing! BTW, I have same size sotto zero serie 2s

I did that right after the winter tires were on! Was checking for TPMS but was surprised to find settings for winter tire setup. Maybe that's why I'm not getting TCS warning. I drive hard and live in hilly area. Btw.. Michellin's are amazing, tons of grip!

Yes, thinner the better but surprisingly they handle very well at low/high speeds in snow!

That's what everyone said about the 275/40 front and 315/35 rear Scorpion Ice and Snow Run Flats I had on my X5 for 6 winters. They were great. I think back in the old days when snow tires were all about having a deeper, more aggressive tread, the narrowness helped, but now it's all about the compound of the rubber. As long as they are actually snow and ice rated and have the snowflake/mountain stamp on them, I'm not of the opinion that narrower snow tires are necessarily better.

You are correct, no 285/35 for staggered set up. All around 275/35. However, with these 275/35 mounted on the rear 10.5 inch rim, the back tires looks wider than the 285. I don't know why, maybe the tire looks more squared out than the summer Michs and has more depth at the edges. I will have to get a picture. I am really impressed with these tires and would buy the same 275/35 set up again if I need.

I tried to set up the tyres and there is no 20" option for the winter tyres in settings.....How stupid is this? BMW should really pay more attention at least with high end cars.

Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 275/35-20 front are

102W 168mph speed rating (Good/Correct)
load range of 1,874 lbs (Good/Correct)

the 285/35-20 rear have different pattern because

104V 149mph speed rating (Different)
1,984lbs load range (good)

It's weird because a few ppl i know are running 275/35-20 square or 285/35-20 square for Winters in other brands such as Conti DWS06, Michelin AS3+ too

that's not true ,you can get the 285 in 104W and it will still have the different pattern. i read once ( cant find it now ) that Michelin developed one of the patterns with Porsche

That's correct, the rears are have Porsche homologation. I'm getting some really inconsistent behavior form the rears. Sometimes they grip just fine, sometimes I can't accelerate at all because the DSC light is on the entire time.

I'm considering slapping a 275/35/20 in the rear too, just not sure how stretched it's going to be and whether that would affect circumference significantly or not (most likely not).
