Hard brakeing once every couple days makes it go away for a few days

Took it to dealer for the same thing. They said its normal for this car. Even 911 turbos squeal at low speed braking and Porsche actually made a video explaining it, due to big size rotors and harmonic balance, large disc actually acting as speakers when brake pads rub on them.

Never ever had brake squeal on any "M" car I've owned, and I have had them all.
Snow Foam and Jet wash the disks/calipers each time you wash the car.
I have the CCB now same NO noises.

There is another thread on this and we all seem to be having this issue, although intermittently.

I had this issue, then I bedded the pads (hawk style) as if I just installed them (only had 50 miles anyway) and they've been perfect every since and much more linear.

CCB may be different - OP, do you have steel brakes?

F10 M5 had this issue, there are tons of posts about it. In the end, I think the only real solution was hard braking at higher speed (coming off a highway, for example). Then it would go away for a while.

I experienced it with my F10, terrible noise. Then I switched to an F80 M3, only to have the dreaded "rock stuck between the brake disc and dust cover" issue.

My had steel as did my M6 GC CP never had any noise doing what I said.
PS) I have never bedded brakes in, just drove the car and let them settle. This includes the CCB and do they stop.

Dealer told me that this can be caused by using an acidic wheel cleaner (I have not used acidic wheel cleaners for years) and then not driving the car straight away, the cleaner eats into the pads/discs causing this apparently. Not sure if its BS but figure its worth passing on.

Oh, and his comment was pro-active, I have no noise (yet) from the brakes.

Well i was advised and use a PH neutral Snow Foam, that MAY account for my trouble free silence.

Sounds like you're one of the lucky ones. Tons of threads from M5 / M6 owners about the issue. BMW even issued a TSB about it.

It bothered some, while others just chose to live with it.

300 miles into ownership and already squealing. Like someone else posted, it's not an issue, but a feature. At least the cabin is so insulated you barely hear it. I'm going to try some bedding in procedures once break-in period is up. Fingers crossed, but I expected it so it's not as bothersome.

At this point it's buyer beware. Some cars have it and some don't which seems very odd.

Squealing started on day 1. Goes away after a good wash but comes back. I could care less.

It's fine in the summer where you can power wash the disc every week, but in the winter it's a big problem since you won't be able to power wash it.

You're probably right but at least I know the brakes are working!

There seems to be more going for the $9000 carbon ceramic brake option every time I read about this topic! I'm feeling a tinge of regret not electing them for my car. Almost no one has complained of brake squeal on CCB's on the F90.

I had the same lazy feedback from my dealer !

That's a lot of rubbish, my last 2 M3s did not squeal but the M5 is just horrible.. I was also told that with time the brake pads will get more used and the noise will fade away.. again a lot of nonsense ?!
I'm taking the car to another dealer to get this looked at
