P21S spray wheel cleaner for me (https://www.p21s.com/products/bis_wc1.html), with a 6X4" sponge to get the recesses. Spray, let it sit and sponge away.

Took it for service to the dealer. They did couple of software updates.
Replaced some fuel line components under recall and said that the brake noise is normal for these cars and there is no fix for it.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

So is there a consensus about the need for bedding in the steel brakes? Manual doesn't say anything about it. Just curious if people are doing it or not.

So I now have 2500 miles on the car and the brake squeal is pretty bad. Pretty much the same as it was in my F10. They were never able to fix it on my F10. Has anyone had any luck in reducing or eliminating the squeal? At least the F90 seems to be better insulated so I don't hear it as much. But still annoying that a 120k car sounds like my daughter's school bus when coming to a stop.

I'm at 3000 and it is making me crazy. It's not intermittent...it's every single time I apply the brakes. Greatly appreciate the stopping power but my M4 brakes never has this issue.

Funny you bring back this thread. I just brought my car in for service and complained about the brake noise. They said that there was a bulletin and service was not to do anything on M cars with cross drilled rotors. I basically got told to deal with it. Still looking for after market pads.

In my experience the noise will be reduced or will vanish if you do some hard braking. In my case I drive to the german highway and accelerate to around 120mph or more and do an emergency brake (when there is no traffic).
After 1 try they mostly stop to make noise. ATM I can only speak from sport brakes on M235i and C63S.
Haven't picked up my M5C yet.

This workaround was told me from different people. The sport breaks sometimes have to be used as they should.

LMOA. Lived with that for 15 years with my RS6. High Performance brakes are noisy. Oh well. A8L was not as bad. My 97 M3 was not too bad if I recall, but my '16 M2 was noisy too. You can play music as you stop if you press the brake peddle just right. I'd love to hear the noise from my M5.....5 more days....

Mike

That one can be taken care of by using Anti Squeal brake pad paste on the backs of the brake pads to provide a cushion in the calipers, to stop the micro vibrations that cause the squeal. Many of us get these squeals because a few years back BMW started saying NOT to use the anti squeal paste on the backs of the pads when doing brake jobs. But they know that vibrations in calipers cause squealing. That is why they changed the pad design for the f10 M5 in 2014.

I don't have any noise on my F10 cause I put paste on the back of my pads. I ride motorcycles too, and if I don't use anti squeal paste on my brake pads, I get squealing brakes on the bikes too.

I will bump this for those who missed it the first time.

Interesting
I got CCBs that should be notorious for squealing but actually not, the only time when I hate them is after car washes where you feel that you have no brakes for 30 seconds or so

I had an M5 F10 and then the F90. No brake noise with either car.

For steel brakes, I've heard that a brake pad paste on the back of the pads helps eliminate high frequency vibrations which is likely the squealing you're hearing.

I had this issue as well on my X5M with steel brakes constantly. Don't get the squeal anymore with CCBs.
