It’s a known issue with BMW’s. My M4 does the same thing. Only solution is to get the ceramics

I replaced my M4's brake pads with Powerstop ones. Stopped the brake dust.. only thing I have to deal with is some squealing in the morning. Usually as I'm leaving the driveway, but then it dissipates after about 30 seconds. Well worth it, I don't have to clean the wheels every week, I now wash the car once/twice a month and I'm good. Wonder if they make them for the M5 as well.

I'm using Powerstop (Fronts) and Akebono (rears) on my F10 M5 with zero squealing and minimal brake dust.

OEM pad dust is terrible IMO.

Did the same to my M4 23,000 miles ago. Power Stop street ceramics.
No dust, no squeal and still plenty of pad left. I suspect they will have pads available for the M5 soon, if not already.

Had the same issue on my Audi S6. I got rid of the dust and squeal with ceramic pads made by Disc Italia, ordered them from brakeworld.com. I know this can’t help you right now, but reach out to them and plant the seed that there is interest in getting them for the M5.

Can also take JMANN1111’s advice. Putting wax on your wheels has helped reduce the appearance of brake dust.
