Tire brands on the M5

I have seen both Michelin and Pirelli on the M5 F90 at the IAA in Frankfurt last year. Yesterday I saw an M5 on display with 19" Yokohama tires. Any other options?

I ordered mine with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s.

You can't order your car with specific tires. You will get whatever set of tires your car happens to come equipped with - that might be Michelin or pirelli (or maybe yokahama), but it won't be your choice unfortunately. Otherwise everyone would order Michelins.

This bugs me too. Of course I want the Michelins. My F10 came with Pirellis. I hated them. I have the PSS on now. Your only hope is to have the dealer make the swap at delivery, assuming they have the tires you want in stock.

my pirellis have held up for about 23k in the rears which I just replaced over the summer. fronts are still great. keep in mind though I swap out for winters which saves about 2-3k miles on wear.

My F10 P-zero rears were done in less than 10k miles, the fronts near dead, without track time. These were quickly replaced by PSS. I don't buy this bespoke nonsense. I hear it all the time. With the exception of a 260mph Bugatti, most high performance cars don't benefit from bespoke tires. The only thing special about these tires is the deal BMW made with Pirelli and probably a little symbol on the sidewall. I guaranty if you were to replace the stock P-zeros with a set from Tirerack you wouldn't notice a difference, nor gain time on a track. I still hope my M5 comes with the Michelins.

Well, yes I can. I told my dealer that I will only order the car if they deliver it with Michelin and they gave me written confirmation.

And yet still, neither you nor your dealer will have any say in it. They can't control what tires your car comes with.

More than likely dealer will swap for Michelins if it comes with something else; they don’t know what tires it will be equipped with.

Yes, I ordered the car from my dealer, not from the BMW factory. So I assume that the dealer will do whatever is needed to fulfil the order. I did the same thing with my current M5 and picked it up in Munich on Michelins. So I guess the dealer was either lucky or able to order specific tires….
