Any reviews on lowering M5 Comp?

Considering lowering my M5 Comp a bit more with the H & R 550 springs vs the KW HAS kit. Any feedback from those that have done it, which is better, and would you do it again? My car is a daily driver so I don't want to go so low that its a PITA with parking lot entry ramps, etc. thanks.

If you're happy with the amount the H&R 550i springs lower the car that would be my choice. If you want some adjustability than I would go the HAS route.

I'm pleased with the H&R's ... right amount of lowering and very good ride quality.

I originally went KW HAS before going with the H&R's.

How was the ride on your comp with kw has, compared to oem? Did the car become even more stiff? More bouncy?

I bought kw has for my f90, but debating whether to install it, I'm afraid to ruin the ride....

You can control some of the stiffness and bounciness of the KW HAS since it allows for adjustments. The more aggressive you dial it in the more bouncy and stiff it will feel. Naturally if you're lower than the Comp ride height you'll feel a bit more bounciness and stiffness but really not too bad.

With that said, the H&R 550i kit feels much more OEM regarding ride quality and provides a really nice ride height IMO.

KW HAS does a better job reducing body roll on hard cornering than the H&R's.

Thanks for the input. Decided to go with the H & R's, spacers and wider Michelins. Looking forward to the more aggressive stance.

That's what I did too. H&R 550.
Front : 12 mm 285/35/20 PS4S
Rear : 8 mm 295/35/20 PS4S
Really happy with the setup and it rides exactly like OE on comfort mode. But it will be stiffer on sport and sport +. Front tire will rub once in a while but not a big deal at all, only on super deep ramps.

I am going with a setup similar to Dean (LimeyPride).

Spacers: 13mm front / stock rear
Tires: Michelin PS4S 295/30/20 rear + 285/30/20 front

Lyk how it turns out.

285 on the front? Isn't that 1 size larger than stock? Won't this create oversteer?

Barry
Yes tire sizes are somewhat bigger than stock but the ratio front to back is the same. As I understand it, all cars with larger rear than front tires oversteer (although other factors also come into play) but keeping the ratios the same as stock should make this a minimal change compared to stock. If that is incorrect, please lmk.

Your reply makes it even harder to decide

How good are the roads where ever you are?? Just afraid that the m550i springs go way too low for all-year driving, especially for winter with snow :

Roads in Miami are pretty good.

If your biggest concern is ride quality than I would go H&R M550i springs all day as they are very OEM at the lower ride height.

How would you rate the ride quality of your OEM Comp springs vs. the H&R M550i springs? It seems like it may be about the same ride height but how is the ride quality any more compliant than the OEM Comp?

Ride height is significantly lower but ride quality feels every bit as compliant as OEM, if not better.

Here are some pics of my car w/ H&R M550 springs so that you can compare to Comp ride height.

Check Tire Rack ... they're aggressive in terms of pricing.
