Just out of curiosity for anyone who may be willing to answer, why are things like the final actual selling price, money factor after MSDs, and monthly payment viewed as things that are private or sensitive information?

These are things that can be figured out by anyone with a little knowledge and a calculator, but I see numerous examples of people saying "I got X over invoice and put Y down for Z months", but won't talk monthly payment.

Why?

It's because everybody is jealous of everybody, and people won't share something like a monthly payment because of an irrational fear that somehow, if you know what they pay a month for a car that hundreds of thousands of other people will also own or lease, somehow you gain leverage over them.

If I knew the invoice figure and how much he paid at driveoff I can work out the deal he got. But in all honesty if someone does not want to disclose this information on the internet, a place that everyone can see it you should respect that.

I just got confirmation on the residual for 10k miles at 62% from golfer, and the dealer I asked for a quote gave me a residual of 58% for 10 k miles. Which would have made a big markup for them on the deal.

People can share or not share what they want — but it's strange to say, "I paid X over invoice", and not be willing to say what the actual selling price is, which is arguably the single most important factor in any vehicle sale, finance, or lease transaction.

It's also strange to share the money factor, amount over invoice, annual mileage, residual, and nearly every aspect of the deal — but not be willing to share the monthly payment, which I'd argue is the second most important factor for most people (and which you can back into via calculation, or at least estimate, depending on what info is shared).

I am in 100% agreement that people can choose to share (or not) whatever they wish. But I'm asking for the rationale, and I believe it's exactly what usmabmass said.

On another note, it's absolute highway robbery for dealers to pad their deals by not giving their buy rate on the money factor, or offering lower residuals. Can you imagine if dealers padded interest rates on loans, or wouldn't tell you the APR on a loan from BMWFS? Because this is essentially the same thing, and it's shady AF...and I realize it's just the way of things.

I know of a few dealerships that are taking orders. Some even have had January builds.

I had 2013 535i M-Sport with M-Sport suspension. It was way to hard riding for a luxury sedan. The VDC will give you best of both worlds. Trust me. Plus when you get M-Sport I believe price drops from $1,000 to $700. It well worth it. TRUST ME.

1000 over invoice for $76485 MSRP 2017 540xi is about 73k. Lease payment will run ~900/mo with ~ 8500 out of pocket with 7 MSDs. That's just silliness, when one can lease a 2017 S class for the same dollars.

Or a loaded 2017 S6 for that kind of coin all day, every day. 😎

I believe it is this kind of condescending and insensitive statement (quoted) that makes people not to reveal the full details of their orders.

Sorry, I don't think your touching an S Class for under 1500/mo, and that is just based on numbers I have gotten on a 15 and 16 lease. As far as the S6, I got 1100 from a dealer in Willow Grove PA, but possibly high cause it was loaded to the gills!

Yeah, you are nuts.....$1k a month won't get you anywhere near a S550.

I don't understand why people are so secretive about numbers, either. However, I also don't think $900/month for a 540 is a good deal, at all. $900/month would easily get you a F10 550i and I doubt the M550i is going to be much higher.

We can't tell you if its a good deal if you don't post the entire deal.
$76,485 was MSRP. I live in NJ with 7% sales tax. Selling price was invoice + $1,000-ish. MF starts at .00143 and I put down 7 MSDs. Residual is 62% on a 10k/36 month lease. I will refrain from any other details.

Since this is not my first BMW and since this is not my first lease from my CA, I am 100% confident I got a good deal on a brand new car that comes with zero incentives.
There are BMW drives that allow 1000.00 coupon FYI. They are at ski resorts...

Lease?
Yes. I leased it for 36 months. Price is based off invoice + $1,000-ish.
Sounds about right. What was msrp? Heard the 10,000 mile residual is 61 percent and base MF is .00134.

Question is- did dealer discount?
.134 money factor + MSDs. 62% for 10k!
Oh 62???
Also- I admire the order without a test drive. I'm almost there myself!
I've been a loyal BMW driver for a long time. This is my first order sight unseen, but my trust for the brand pushed me to move forward! Good luck with your future order!
Thank you!

M sport looks special this time around...

Let me know if you want either of the two cars for under 1k/mo. I'll point you in the right direction.
