My first M5
First off, I love this forum! Great to see so many enthusiasts in one community collectively sharing information and stories.
Well, I'm Finally ordering my Dream sports car before they kill off the V8. Wanted something fast that could fit my 3 kids in back lol! I'm just waiting for my dealer to obtain a production number then I'll be placing this order in Frozen black. https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...d7c0zb/summary Getting antsy because holding pool isn't reassuring. I want a solidified slot, knowing that an individual color will take longer than a regular order. Hoping I get some good news from them shortly. Wanted something unique that stands out. Let me know what you think and if there's something else I am missing that should consider. Also, how do I select the 50th anniversary emblems to be added? Appreciate the feedback guys. |

I would consider CCB's .. no noise or dust.
Do a search for squealing brakes to better understand some of the issues with steels. You can also search which type of brakes may be better street versus track. Good luck!

Definitely add the carbon ceramics if you can swing it.
The brake dust alone is a good reason for them. But also, less likely to squeal like a pig with CCBs, even though, allegedly they made a change to 2023 steel models to remedy the squealing. CCBs also last a lot longer if you mainly do street/commuter driving. If you track a lot , the performance is great, however, you'll be replacing rotors more often, and at 3-4,000.00 per rotor that can get costly. But non track driving youll get 80-100k out of carbon brakes. The 8500.00 (I think) option from the factory is actually a bargain considering rotors alone are nearly double that if you were to replace all 4 with new OEM. Yes, I have owned 2 F90 M5's and the Carbon Ceramic Brakes are a must have option if you have the resources.

I too am excited after placing my order October 16th. My CA said we should see a production number any day now. They told me the car will be a February build with delivery in April. Not sure how they know that without the production number. Mine is also and "individual" build. I'm going with Imola. Best of luck, I hope my guy is right and we get these cars sooner than later. |

As for the spec - amazing - can't wait to see it locally! Frozen black just looks so bad @ss on this car. And as for the recommendations on the CCBs - +1000 for that. Clean wheels - and only a few minutes to clean up the light dust that they do get. Plus the frozen black + gold calipers will give you a bit of John Player Special livery (or Manhart). Hope you get your build slot soon!

My CCBs squeal. They don't dust much at all, but they do make noise especially at low speed.

I can't say the same about my M5's with steels that have all been very noisy and ended up replacing pads to remedy. I've heard some members their CCB's make noise but I have to believe the prevalence is less than steels, although I could be wrong.

Your order appears to automatically come with the 50th Anniversary emblems. There's an unselected option your order to go with the Classic Emblems and you can see from your picture it looks like they are on the build image of the car. Your CA can confirm once you have a build sheet. If for some reason it's not on the order you could have the dealer change it before production begins.
Also -- I think you've seen all the CCB feedback. I concur with it. ;D

I love the Xpel Stealth option on the Skyscraper personally. You get a very unique look with added protection and ease of maintenance that PPF provides.
There have been great examples of DG and Bluestone that have opted to go this route and they look amazing, in my opinion. I owned a BSM 15' F10 M5 and it was very difficult to maintain.

Mine would sometimes give a little squeak in reverse when it was cold. Or when they were wet (like after a bath).

However, I was able to make a deal with the local dealer which was always my preference given the fact that wanted to establish a service relationship as well. I will definitely consider the ceramic brakes since everyone is suggesting as well. I actually do like the look of the standard blue caliber or the gold CB with the frozen black exterior paint. I think it will look sick! Don't have a production number yet. That's really the nerve-racking part! Once I get a production number and I know that my order will actually get built, it'll be a huge sense of relief. |

That, plus forget about loaners and these days it's 2-3 weeks to get an appointment (plus their online booking system sucks). When the local dealers want to step up and acknowledge that I've bought 4 BMWs from them (2 non M, 2 M - probably close to $350k in cars, plus referrals from my neighbors (1 X5MC, 2 X5 Hybrid) instead of just treating me as a record in their CRM, maybe then I'll start buying local again - but until then, I'm going to go out of my way to purchase thru a broker and minimize my spend on service with them (I'll get it done there while it's covered then go to an Indy). But the free breakfast and ice cream sandwiches are nice.

LOL, I think you'll be fine with CCBs.
In my experience with CCBs on other cars, they can squeak a little bit, especially when cold or a little wet, this was my experience with a Ferrari 458, and a 911 Turbo S, but nothing like my M5 steels. My F10, and F90 M5 steel sounds like a school bus or U-haul truck coming to a stop. Wonder if we should do a poll, I don't know where everyone lives, but Im in AZ, and I wonder if the heat, dust, and lack of rain or wet roads plays in to it more than other places. Back in 2008-2010 when I lived in Seattle, I had 2 diff Lexus IS-F's with 6 piston Brembo's, very similar to the M5 brakes and they were silent the entire time, as well as friends with 911s, M3's etc up there. |

However, I do notice a huge change in environment back in late 2018 ever since the owner moved a young manager back to one of his other stores. In early 2018 this guy was awesome! I've gone into that store many times prior and you could tell something had been switched in a good way. Employees and customers seemed genuinely happy when this guy was around. He's actually the one who turned me on to the M5. Financially, I wasn't in a position to buy the car otherwise I would've bought it from this guy hands-down based on experience and treatment alone! You could tell he actually cared about the customers and his employees! |

Not nearly as bad as steel brakes, but definitely not silent.
